GPU Usage drops to only 50% when I go on Duty

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm hoping someone can help with this. I have a GTX 1060 and i5 4690k and can run GTA V mostly high settings at over 60fps and I see 100% GPU usage. However, when I go on duty my fps drops to about 40, and I see my GPU usage go down to 50% and not any higher? Does anyone know why this is? I use a lot of Albo plugins and updated callout plugins.

Thanks!

It's possible that some of your script/LSPDFR plugins are doing too much on the CPU per frame or just too much in general.

I can't replicate this behavior on a vanilla LSPDFR install.

Oh Ok, I think I'll just have to live with it then :/

The lovely draw calls, eh?

As Cyan said, your CPU is probably maxed so it can't push as many draw calls to the GPU.

Yeah, I'm definitely getting 100% CPU usage while playing

Out of curiosity, did you build (or pick) the components yourself?

Sorry, was just coming back to this out of curiosity because I'm trying to fix still, and just saw your reply,

I built the system myself yeah, and picked the components. I went from an FX 8120 and GTX 760 in my first build to what I got now. Here is the full part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/J2cJ2R

I'm a bit of a PCMasterRace type guy :P

That's pretty equally matched, I'd say.
Though I must admit, a lot of mods are more CPU bound than graphics-bound, and with my experiences with my i5, the most hopeful thing to upgrade to is like, any i7 at all really. The hyperthreading will help out in GTA.

YES, this. I was doing some testing earlier, and my CPU threads doubled when I loaded lspdfr... The i5 doesn't have hyperthreading which sucks. I did some research, and tried my hand at overclocking. I have  a stable overclock at 4.4Ghz, so I'm going to see if that helps.

It should help a good amount, and I mean your on water cooling so temps really shouldn't be much of a problem.

Yeah, I got the cooler to overclock ages ago but was too scared, however, I just thought ah what the hell I'm going to go for it! It hasn't fixed my problem completely, because like you said it probably won't unless I had hyperthreading, although I seem to be getting a small performance increase!
