"How to avoid Rockstar updates" method no longer working

As per this topic,

 

I have kept a backup of a different version and been playing it fine.  As soon as Steam finished with updating GTA, I went in and added the backups.  Well, now the game won't launch, just gives me the "exited unexpectedly" message.    So, has Cockstar really found a better way at screwing over modders? Or is there another workaround for this?

Parts of the game other than update.rpf and the .exe files were updated. You have no choice but to wait for the next patch. Next time, use the RPH built in backup system.

As I said, that topic worked flawlessly for me for a long time.  I do have another choice, stop playing entirely.  Cockstar could easily try and help modders with these updates, but they don't.  They are perfectly fine screwing over legitimate players.  Good thing I've gotten back into BattleField recently, gives me better game to turn to.

Well, sorry man, but I don't really care. None of that post relates to my post, so why did you quote it? The thing we are discussing is avoiding Rockstar updates. 

 

You very clearly did not read my message - from time to time, parts of the game other than the items you backed up can be updated and won't be compatible.

 

Take a break, you're unhappy. I hate silly GTA online content updates just as much, but we need to be mature.

FIX, (If you used the RPH backup system)

 

The "Steam_api_x64.dll" or whatever it's called was also replaced this patch and RPH does not backup that, pm me for v944's file if you don't have it backed up elsewhere, pop it in your main directory and away you go.

i mean, this updates are MP-only, why do they break the entire game? why? i dont understand. there are no changes or bugfixes, i never noticed anything. there are no bugs in the SP. and they never changed anything.

 

and honestly, I dont fucking care about something called "EULA". I am just a gamer who payed for playing the game, a default gamer who wants just to play, as I want, i am not a fucking lawyer or whatever, im not a business man, i dont want to know about anything of this crap, because I just want to play, as I said.

as long nobody dies or get hurt because of playing the game (haha) , i dont care. there are so many people outside who care about this, but WE are just people who play this game, its not our task to think about this "commerce law" stuff.

I'm just going to be honest and say that 99.99% of companies don't care if you've spent your hard-earned cash on the game. at all.
Additionally, they can take legal action against people who violate the EULA, but you do you, friend.

Sharing a .dll file that's useless by itself isn't illegal. Now if he zipped up his whole game folder and put it on google drive, then you might actually have a point.

is there an IQ lowering machine here? yes it is illegal. it's just the EULA.

If there is, then you are sitting in the driver's seat. steam_api64.dll is part of the steam client, which is "free" and anyone can download. 

 

It's not illegal. Go spread your stupid bullshit somewhere else.
