A Stranger reacted to Sam in LSPDFR 0.4 - Coming February, 2019
So, it's been a while since we've provided an update on LSPDFR 0.4.  As you might've guessed from the title, though, there's a good reason for this...  It has taken us a lot of work to get to this point, and in the last couple of months alone we've made hundreds and hundreds of changes.  Anyway, here we are - who knows how many months late - but we're here.  No riddles, no treasure hunts, no @MSA (at least I'm pretty sure they're not here), but straight to the point!  We can now confirm that we'll be releasing LSPDFR 0.4 in February, 2019.

Anyway... with the scary part out of the way, I wanted to take the opportunity to explain ourselves a little.  No, @LMS wasn't renditioned to an IAA black site, no I didn't fall victim to the Orbital Cannon, and no...  the ghost of @ineseri didn't drive a train into us.  Perfectly plausible scenarios given our silence about 0.4 as of late, but we're actually still alive.  Instead, we've been pretty busy rushing to the finish line as far as 0.4 is concerned, and to complement the big news above, we thought we'd throw in a couple of sweeteners below to show just how much 0.4 is going to change things.

We've talked a lot about our Character system in LSPDFR 0.4.  It's one of the biggest changes to the mod, but we also think it represents an entirely new direction in general.  I say this because, not only does it allow us to have a bunch of really cool stuff natively integrated into the mod, like customizing a character, but it also lets us have a bunch of other really cool stuff natively integrated into the mod!  Having your own character dials up the immersion quite substantially, but we wanted to take things to another level.  We thought, for example, wouldn't it be cool if instead of spawning as Franklin in Franklin's house, you could instead, say, I don't know?  Actually spawn as your own character, in their house.  Or maybe, instead of switching to Trevor and your camera panning down to him being pursued by the LSPD, you could switch to one of your other characters, and "Google Earth" down to them being the LSPD.

LSPDFR 0.4 introduces a fully functional GTA Online Apartment to single-player, complete with transition sequences, working interactions and more Steve Haines than you can handle.

It's not just that, though, we really wanted to dial it up.  Having your own character, them having an apartment, switching, customizing, it's all cool, right?  But you might be thinking, what's the point?  These are "multiplayer features".  And sure, LSPDFR is and most likely always will be a single-player mod, but that doesn't mean we can't think outside of the box every once in a while.

Recently, @Cyan, in addition to all of her work on the website, has also been developing an all new framework called LSPDFR Sync.  LSPDFR Sync lets you connect up to your LSPDFR.com account in-game, and you can then synchronize your LSPDFR characters with your LSPDFR.com profile.  To top it off, we've brought back statistics too.  Ever wanted to know how many shots your character has fired?  It's as simple as taking a look at your character's profile on the site - which, we should add, you can actually edit.

LSPDFR Sync provides all-new, seamless connectivity with your LSPDFR.com profile.

And frankly, it doesn't even end there.  When I said before that we wanted to dial the immersion up to the max, I guess I lied.  What I actually meant to say was that we'd just ripped the dial clean off the controls, strapped it to a rocket, and sent the damn thing up to the moon.  Not only can you now create a character, customize them, share them, spawn as them...  You can actually do things as them too!  Like, actual game things.  Ever wanted to run the triathalon as your LSPDFR Character?  Now you can.  Or, how about practicing with your sidearm down at the range?  Yep, got that too.  Simply want a can of sprunk from a vending machine?  No problem.

With the introduction of a new innovative system by @LMS, it's now possible to do many of the single-player minigames while playing as your LSPDFR Character.

Of course, with the Character system, and all of the features that come with it, being such a huge part of LSPDFR 0.4 it'd be easy to forget that this is a police mod.  Indeed, I think we almost did given the grotesquely gargantuan amount of work that has gone into it.  Fear not, though, as we have also been working on some incredible new gameplay features too, including massive improvements to interaction with suspects and people that you arrest.

LSPDFR 0.4 introduces, in a game-changing way, the ability to take hold of and drag arrested suspects.  Yes, we know that there's some great API mods which have held the fort, and we're grateful for that, but this is something we wanted to get absolutely right, and indeed, we think the result is simply stunning.  The possibilities are pretty far-reaching too and encompass just about everything from shoving suspects up against cruisers, to personally escorting them into their cells.

No, these aren't cutscenes.  No, they're not edited screenshots.  With 0.4, this is real.

It's not 'digging through' files, and it's a very simple copy. paste them in a folder, and when you need to, drag and drop in the main folder.  This way you know for sure your back up is safe and there to use whenever.

Due to this thread being drama filled and deviating away from support, as well as William being unmuted from the Discord, I am going to close this topic assuming support will continue there instead.  Good luck, William.

Look, I am glad you are having fun with this mod & the amazing content the devs on here put out.

But I am not gonna go through hours and hours of talking basic readme's to you. Read. if you learned your lesson, I am sure Kal will unmute you as well.
So if you run into any problems while reading you can ask on the Discord and people will help you IF they have the time.

I did it all for you, it worked. When you came back you blamed me for it to other people, basically behind my back. So no, I refused to help you. You deleted the stuff I did for you. I won't redo it.
You wouldn't even install the official Microsoft requirements for Rage. You wouldn't do anything I asked, I literally had to work for it.
We tried to help you, I set it all up, Sebo even explained it to you again.

And you were muted because you spam-tagged, insulted and interrupted people. It's for a reason.

Okay, I spent hours in voice with you over the spawn of days helping you set up LSPDFR, plugins, ELS and even costum cars after you reinstalled the game because "someone messed it up". Without ever seeing what you did.
We were talking. The last update I had was me installing MVGA, which worked perfectly, and running into EUP being blocked.
But then I had to leave because I have a life of my own as well.
And then you go ahead and reinstall the game. Again. For the third time. Even though multiple people on the Discord told you not to, including me multiple times in voice.
So everything I did was gone. Great, hours wasted.

And then people decided not to help you because you started to blame things on them and starting over again wasn't a choice.
Not after spending hours for you setting it up. Literally telling you to drag & drop 14 times. The basics, I say.

And then you go in pm and viscously insult me, including the members of this Discord. If you want, I have a screenshot I can link it for everyone to see. After I spent hours in voice nicely guiding you through something you were too lazy to read.

It's you who is to blame for it not working. And there have been plenty capeable people trying to help you, but you don't listen. No need to blame us.

    To everybody seeking support,
I've created a troubleshooter that checks for and fixes most common issues to do with scripts and their dependencies. I recommend giving it a try before seeking further support as this can likely help you fix your issue.

If your game is legit, you need to update it.

    For retail: Delete GTA5.exe.
Create a shortcut of GTAVLauncher.exe -> Right click that new shortcut -> Properties.
In the Target line add -verify behind the " .

For Steam: Delete GTA5.exe in your main folder, then verify the game cache via Steam.
(Right click the game in Steam -> Properties -> Local Files -> Verify)

You may be thinking, "XDUFJUFSJHNGHANWHF ME OPENIV IS GOOONNENEEE AAAAaaAaaaAAAaAAAAAA I CXANT MOD NO MOREEE HOW CN I FCLIVE NO MOAR U TUBE VIDEYASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well you've come to the right topic.

Now you may still have OpenIV on your computer if you didn't overreact like some spastic tweaker, but you'll see a new update (version 2.9) or a new message.

Now you know you're no lawyer, but you're an edgy pre-teen who likes GTA V minion mods, or some short circuit light bulb who drives around in a retired fleet car with amber "warning" lights, with thin blue line garbage plastered everywhere the rectangle will fit, and pretends to enforce his neighborhood watch program while being as grey as he can with the law, but who uploads YouTube videos with that there __PDFR mod, where they could do all those things that would be in direct violation of your state and federal laws. Yet let's assume you'll get some knowledge from my simple how-to topic here that'll hopefully let you see that nothing has changed and you're not as sol as you think you are.

    Step 1:
    Press the button.

    holy shit look at that!!!!

A Stranger reacted to t0y in Petition to Take-Two Interactive & Rockstar Games RE: OpenIV closing
I created a petition against the closing of OpenIV to TTI, and R* Games:
"For 10 years now the Grand Theft Auto series has been edited and modded by people to make the game more enjoyable. Hundreds if not thousands of people have bought one or all of Grand Theft Auto: SA, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Grand Theft Auto V. The modding of these games have been done mostly in singleplayer and with the help of OpenIV, a software that lets you get into the game's files and replace vehicles, scripts, textures, etc. The closing of OpenIV leaves 1000s of people without access to be able to mod their games, and leaves 1000s of people without the ability to continue their hobbies. All modding used by OpenIV is for singleplayer use only to make the game more enjoyable, the software OpenIV was never used to mod multiplayer or Grand Theft Auto Online so it does not harm anyone. Myself, and other members of the LSPDFR and GTA modding community ask that OpenIV be allowed to continue distributing and running as a modding software. Thank you."
