Add GTA V as an exception to your anti virus/firewall and try to launch Rage.

 

If this doesn't work, go ahead and reinstall.

I reinstalled it last night now it says my version is 0.0.000 for gta and the game still crashes when I start it.

I'm pretty sure I downloaded the most current version. Rage hook was working when I first tested it out then I started trying to do the vehicle pack and that's when it and the game itself stopped working. I'll see if I can re download it.

everything is allowed by my antivirus btw.

Verify that your GTA 5.exe is in the directory WITH RagePluginHook.exe

nvm I know why lol. But now I'm getting a message that the game wasn't started via steam when I click ragehook. I'm just about to say forget it I don't want to keep bugging you something is wrong and its not easy to figure out the problem.

Make sure RagePluginHook is in your GTA folder. All files, not just the .exe.

If you add a carpack, use the gameconfig I listed above. It's really important.

 

Also; show a screenshot of your AV exceptions.

If it still gives you the error, verify your game.

Nope. Still get an error saying game wasn't opened via Steam. And when i try to start the game normally it crashes after i click story mode. It's just totally broken now lol I've been waiting to play the mod since lcpdfr days but i never knew how difficult it would be to install all of this stuff. i'll try again some other day and maybe i'll just have to uninstall everything not just the game.

Right click GTA V in your Steam library. Then click properties-->local  files-->verify integrity of game cache.

Launch GTA V normally without Rage.  Does it let you go in game?  If so, once in game, alt tab out and try opening Rage.

I did and every time I click story mode it loads for a couple seconds and closes out the game.

and when I try to start ragehook I get an error code 115
