Running GTAIV as Administrator without Privliges

Featured Replies

So, out of boredom and annoyance of having to connect CD optical drives or use my external, I brought a cheap GTA IV key from G2A.

Runs fine. Except no mods load.

From past experience, when having access to Administrator, running it with Administrator works fine. On this PC, I cannot run it with Admin.

Any suggestions?

Things tried:

Spoiler
  • .bat file:

set __COMPAT_LAYER=RunAsInvoker
start LaunchGTAIV

set __COMPAT_LAYER=RunAsInvoker
start GTAIV

Both complain that they cannot find what they are looking for.

  • Running through steam - No joy.

run Steam as administrator, then run GTA IV through Steam, it should run GTA via administrator. I believe that's what i had to do to be ableto get mods working with the Steam version.

I don't have access to Administrator. It's a corporate computer, so to speak.

Then you can't, Running things as Admin is an option only available to admins. If you're not listed as an Administrator on the computer then you're essentially screwed. Although if you're using the PC all the time, i'm not sure why they didn't give you partial Admin control on the PC.

That annoys me as well. I even paid for the damn thing and get to take it after my Studies conclude.

Thanks for your help.

If you paid for it, and they're letting you keep it.. it's essentially yours. Take it back to wherever it's from (i'm assuming university?) and see if they can make your the computer's Administrator, You're probably already meant to be it, but didn't set it up.

Education Department IT Techs aren't that great in Australia to be honest so they probably messed up.
