Hey lads,

How are you all doing. I was watching youtube and bang, I had a great idea. (The inspiration is through the roof) and I thought I would make a mod revolved around traffic management. The mod will feature:

-Added variable message boards

-Customisable traffic lights

-Variable speed signs that will be made to work with the AI

-New traffic signs

-Ambient traffic events

-Road wear and road reconstruction (Possible)

And loads more.

 

This is still a very rough idea and if you would be interested please let me know down below and also please shoot me any suggestions you may have.

Thanks for the suggestion. Should I add ambients events such as burst watermains and gas leaks?

May I ask... Do you have any experiences with LSPDFR/Rage modding at all? It sounds like a nice idea, but also like a very difficult project to script...

As far as I know, there is currently no way to import custom prop models into the game. Therefore, any kind of custom sign or anything like that is not going to be possible until they figure out a way to import custom props. 

I'm interested in how you plan to add variable matrix signs...

Not OP, but I've thought about how you could do it with a custom vehicle. Wouldn't work for a static one (e.g. over highway) until we can import custom objects. 

For a vehicle, you'd have a limited number of messages you could display, and they'd have to be embedded in the ytd file. Have the message board be emissive, then have each message be an extra. Toggle extras on/off to turn messages on/off. It would be a pain to develop but would be possible. 

Obviously, this plan is a work in progress, so until the release, some items may be cut, although I do have a general idea on a possibility on how to pull it off.
