Social Club is just Rockstar's DRM. I don't see any reason for them to remove it. If they do, they potentially open the floodgates to pirates.

So whilst it's annoying, they already have your money. If everybody fought about this when it came out perhaps something would have been different, but alas there was very little resistance, and it's something we have to deal with now.

The social club login error isn't hard to fix. Spam clicking play button and alternating between running as Windows 7 compatibility mode and not, using Steam and not, at different times of the day, etc. Eventually, after computer restarts, and stuff of the sorts, you finally can get logged in once. All you have to do is simply join a multiplayer match, rename paul.dll, close your game, and you'll pretty much never have to login again.

It simply takes some effort.
