"Backpack bomb" Netherlands (Another Prank)

Featured Replies

Some kid thought it was funny to drop a backpack on the Central Station of the Hague and scream "BOMB!" to run away after that.

I was at that station while it was happening when I heard someone screaming bomb I started running away.
The person has been arrested, but people really need to think before doing such actions...I am getting tired of it.

Hopefully ya'll have laws like we do concerning things like that... They'll hopefully be charged. I can't think of the exact law name we have but it's like saying "Fire" in a crowded theater... or "Bomb" on a plane. Causing panic. They usually get charged & evaluated at a hospital but yeah I really don't like the way the entire world is starting to 'shape'. "kids" having no problem throwing fake bombs at people dressed as muslims and then saying "It's a prank"... I think the stupidity right now is just climbing cause how would "It's just a prank" make people fine with throwing a fake bomb at them?

Someone tried the same thing in Amsterdam a month ago (give or take a few weeks). Didn't go too well either.

I don't understand some people. Probably don't want to either.

I'm pretty sure there is some law that can at least be used against them, and even if they don't get charged I wouldn't be surprised if they get the bill of the emergency response, which will probably be quite a lot.

I'm sure they'd get charged so that the police can show that they mean business, not 'pranks'. Though even if they don't get charged, I'm sure they'd still be used as an example of some sort.

I'm not sure we'll ever find out, I've never heard of what happened the people involved in the Amsterdam "prank", and I would imagine this being the same, especially as they rarely make an example out of anything.

Under local criminal code here knowingly and willingly falsely reporting an act of terrorism is a 3-year jail ticket. But that doesn't stop people tho.

Minimum or maximum?

If it's anything like in Australia it's a ticket to a Federal Prison as it's a Federal Crime

What a fucking bellend. These "pranks" just get more and more ridiculous. I'm still waiting for the day when one of these fucks gets shot by law enforcement for "pranking" someone with a weapon or whatever.

It's already happened... (Kinda) A few Australian "prankers" (The one who wear the sterotypical muslim outfits) were filming a "bomb prank" and decided to try it on a vehicle at a red light, and ended up being shot by the driver (Concealed carry) So it wasn't really Law Enforcement, but they still got shot... A few days later they said they'd continue to do the pranks (Including a picture of the brother/pranker in a hospital bed) lol I guess they never learn... Sometime next a prank will end up in a homicide.

In The Netherlands I believe it is the following: Three months in jail, 120 hour punishment (Cleaning streets etc) and you need to pay €10.000+

More like, a slap on the wrist and a "dont do it again" with the pathetic justice system we live under.

Seeing as he was underage, I highly doubt he'd get any more than that. Perhaps a 20 hour unpaid work order if we're lucky.

Justice all over the world is shit honestly, I want to get the hell out the United States, whose putting money down to take this entire forum to Mars where we can live out the rest of our lives as potato farmers 6 months away from Earth. Anyone down? I'm not kidding though, in the state of Indiana (my home state) someone was giving their baby heroin and got 3 months for it, someone later was busted with 18 grams of Marijuana and got 1 year. I'm not really for drugs unless it's for medical use, but seriously? 3 months for drugging your baby on a lethal drug that will have it f***ed for life, and 1 year for someone who turned out to be suffering from seizures who went to Illinois to get the shit legally. It's ridiculous, next time I message you guys I will either be living in an undisclosed location underground in Canada, or on Mars.

They were never shot, but they were arrested. Concealed carry (or any carry) is illegal unless your hunting.

I think the laws regarding this should be enforced more, instead of letting people off with a warning. Why have the law in the first place? Imagine how scary it would be to have someone yell out "bomb" in a crowded space. Little children could get trampled and killed by people running.

Nope... They were shot, I remember. It was on both the news & their facebook page. They definitely got shot.

I can 100% verify that they didn't get shot. That was a part of their elaborate 'prank'.

It was not on the news in Australia (where it happened and where I live) because it was false. Overseas it may have made the news simply because it's hard to fact-check with a prankster who makes a living off of deceiving people. Here is the alleged shooting victim, Arman Jalal's Facebook update after the report:

jalal-brothers.jpg

Plus, here is a quote from the Australian gun laws.

"Applicants for a gun owner’s licence in Australia are required to establish a genuine reason to possess a firearm, for example hunting, target shooting, collection, pest control, and narrow occupational uses. In law, personal protection is not a genuine reason" (http://www.gunpolicy.org/firearms/region/australia). So, if this man was shot, the person that shot him would go to jail for illegal possession of a firearm, which also would of made the news. (Which it didn't).

I hope this has cleared things up for you!
