Just moved to North Carolina...suggestions?!?

The main thing is... people are a lot friendlier there. Don't be surprised when hot girls randomly say hi to you as you're walking down the street.

It's a really different vibe down South, people aren't as reserved or as quiet as people in the Northeast. When I went on vacation in South Carolina for a wedding in 2013, it was a complete shock at how differently people behaved. People would just randomly smile at your or say hi, some would even make small talk. It's a really different vibe as I said before, in a good way. Enjoy it.

Your chances of getting shot have decreased by 500%. Congrats.

You know, like the rest of the world.

  • It's actually more than doubled. 20.2% of people in Illinois are registered gun owners. North Carolina is 41.3%. He lives in the south. That's gun country.   Good luck out there.

Sure thing. I don't want to necessarily depress people or make anyone live in constant fear. But you'd be surprised what kind of people walk the same streets we do. Somebody today who was either under the influence or had a serious mental problem started being belligerent with me while I was speaking with another person entirely. I didn't feel scared, but I definitely saw that things were about to flame up just based on his body language and tone, even though I tried to deescalate the situation by talking to him before getting physical or asking for help from a bystander. I had never seen the man before in my life.

Nah you didn't scare me. I found your reply hilarious at a point I re-read it over like 9x.

Great choice to move away from that shit state. Can´t stand states that don´t allow gay people to marry.

This is a challenge that I'm currently facing with my future goal plans. I actually have alot of thoughts to move back to Illinois because I miss the community I live and grew up in. Yes, Illinois is a very strict state (we were less state to carry concealed but still limited to carrying in specific areas or buildings). We need a FOID to carry a Taser wuttt?!?! (Something I still do not get :\). Since my goal is to be a future law enforcement officer, I have plans to move back after I graduate college (I got a year or two left before I finish) since the salary is alot higher vs the standard living (housing, tax, etc.)

I'm from a suburban town called Naperville, Illinois. Feel free to google Naperville and see how it is.

God damn, I miss my best friend and the others I know well :(

I think South Carolina is different from North Carolina. I've been there once 7 years ago and yes, people say hi to you everywhere you go. I've even had people tell me back home the exact same thing xD

Yep! Honestly even though I grew up with some grudges or hate (which is natural) and you wanna run away and move to another state, your gonna end up missing the state you grew up in just like I did.
