Police Car Design

@S0berDrunk and I started a discussion about police car design and I decided to transfer it to the forum.

I guess every police car design is better than the german or france ones because they are just sooo...basic...^^

Yeah thats true, I´m not that big of a fan of the cars used. Most of them are Volkswagon and look like minivans. Doesnt look that bad but I never quite understood.  """"

Where I live, the police had mostly these standart green-white minivanstyle VW cars. In the last years they changed up a little bit. In germany this stuff is in the hands of the single (16) states so you will meet different models and designs depending on where you go.

Here, they replaced the cars with newer VW passat station wagons. I personally like the new designs because they just look more "modern" and have a higher visability.

Yes, the new Design is nice. I think this one is the van-think you talked about, these has been standart in my state before the blue-yellow ones (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d5/Polizeiauto_Dresden.jpg) But germany has another weird thing... Like 10 years ago they decided to switch up colors from green-white to blue-silver. Because they said they want police cars in europe have a similar color (haha, more or less). But there are still new (!) green cars on the german street wich does not make sense at all...but ok...e.g. this http://i.auto-bild.de/ir_img/1/2/0/4/3/6/4/BMW-X3-xDrive20d-als-Polizeiauto-1200x800-e7c255135f8ff407.jpg

About marking: I never understood why police cars are as marked as possible. I mean, there are only 2 possibilities: They shouldnt be seen, then use zivil cars, or they should be seen by everybody, use as much marking as possible..

Dude, those cars are old. Like years old. At least 10 years. It's as if I was going through german police cars and I tossed this on the table.

The more recent ones are like this.

Or this, for the military police.

I don't know, the white and blue checkerboard design really grows on you when you see them everyday.

Move over WA, QLD got you covered baby

Are these regular patrol cars? they look pretty nice

As Hank said, yep, these are the regular patrol cars here. If you think those are flashy you should check out the Highway Patrol vehicles.

Spoiler

I've seen a few of these new Police XR6s here in WA, but I can't for the life of me find a photo of one online. It looked really cool with the checkerboard. Here's a Highway Patrol one from New South Wales (imagine that just with the blue checkerboard design from the image I posted earlier).

I have a fair few photos in the spoiler below but these are the order of our police cars.

White with the blue checkers and orange trim is general duties/Patrol cars

Coloured vehicles with the blue checkers is Highway Patrol/ Road Policing Command

I also included a photo of one of our two Bearcats which is used by our SERT teams (SWAT)

And also our new uniforms, the light blue shirts are the old ones and the dark blue/black are new.

I lived in Dubai for over a year in 2008, unfortunately back then they didn't have any supercars like this, their fleet mostly consisted of SUVs. I'm not sure why they need all these supercars anyway, speed restrictions aren't enforced and everyone drives like an utter maniac. The only thing the police do is respond to accidents (of which there are many). I don't even think officers carry handcuffs.

Mmm strange.. I guess their fleet isnt as affective as I thought. They do however look like a bunch of badasses in those supercars.
