Building A Patrol Car

Featured Replies

Want to see how a police cruiser is put together? The Boise City Police Department in Idaho show you how it's done step by step, as they got rid of their Crown Victoria fleet prior to 2012. In this video you see how the car arrives bone stock, electronics installation, light bar installation and customization, ram bar installation, and livery installation. Enjoy.

Nice. Thanks for sharing. Personally not a fan of the Dodge Charger but the livery, lightbar and bullbar is nice.

Got RID of their fleet? Those cold bastards.

This. Don't worry Lundy. In about a month, my CVPi will be back home and I will start a whole YT series on bringing her out of retirement and loading her up with cool gear. She shall be back in service once again. Part daily driver, part Auxiliary unit when I need to pull support shifts with my local PD and part show car in tribute to my Dad, who was a long time LEO. It is gonna be a fun series to film and to watch if you have an affinity for the CVPI. Here's the pic that got me to drive 500 miles to snag her up:

Didn't care for the '06 hubcaps, I see?

As you see it is as it was when I bought it. I will be adding the beefier steel wheels (the ones that can take a 45 MPH curb hit), black with the chrome center caps - best look IMHO.

I have the 1998 center caps on mine. One of them flew off a few months ago, however. You might want to add some adhesive to the caps to make them a bit tighter. Other than that, I'd recommend the full on hubcaps. Which if I lose another cap, I'll probably end up sticking my 05' ones back on until I buy some 06' caps.

That is definitely an issue with those. There are the collared lug nuts, but those do not work well.

"Good idea Ford, poor execution."

I am developing a solution to improve on the collar design, that works in conjunction with a center lip retention system.
