Featured Replies

Thats worth it. I have $350 to spend so I think I will stick with mine and upgrade. Thank you!

And just to confirm, when I upgrade my video card I will be able to run the mod right?

I doubt it will. If I told you my current PC can run GTAIV maxed out with an ENB with 100 FPS, would you believe me? I have a Radeon HD 4350, an AMD Phenom II 910 and 8gb of memory. Do you even know w

  • Is that even a PC? Regardless, can you post your specs please?

Aw hell naw. That thing will either blow up or implode when you play GTA.

It's a small chance you can even run the game. Those GPUs are pretty weak, so you'd be lucky if you even get 10 FPS, like I said.

Building on even on top of that, that laptop will be outdated within the next year or so, and you'd be stuck with a multi hundred dollar piece of plastic and metal. Atleast a desktop you can just order a part and pop it in.

I'm confused as to who your replying to on this post?

You.

Actually, more like building on what you said.

Well my statement wasn't about building a custom laptop, it was about building a custom PC Desktop, one that he can figure out for him self exactly what parts he wants, and then down the road, upgrade to whatever he wants.

That's what I built on. You pretty much said ditch the laptop, I said if he upgrades it now, it'll be useless in a year or so, atleast a desktop you can upgrade whenever.

I can always just upgrade my GPU.

Ah sorry, my abmersive reading made your wording a bit confusing to me, thanks for clearing that up.

@limar, if that is the best GPU you can upgrade to, then you can no longer upgrade after that.

GPU is the video card. That's what you want to do, and each time you do that it's doubtful you even will or you'll need a whole new motherboard. In the long run, a bigger investment in the desktop now will save you hundreds later.

I did a quick put together on IBuyPower, The lowest I could find was around $585, If you built it your self, you could probably get it for 300-350-400, depending on what you wish to customize.

PS: IBuyPower isint really the cheapest brand, but I just decided to choose them for a real quick build to see what the lowest I could get from a build online and buy company.

A question for me, my MB has a PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot, and I don't wanna get a GTX 550 ti (because it's nvidia), which is 2.0. Can I get a Radeon PCI-E 2.1 card and put it into a 2.0 slot?

On top of that, I wanna get a regular ATX motherboard, so if I cut up my PC case, can I get that to fit? My PC case is mid-ATX.

Thank you for helping but I still think I will just upgrade. I like my computer I have now anyway. As long as it will run the game when I upgrade im good.

Like I said, you have a small chance of running the game with the upgrade. The GPU choices are BAD, don't upgrade.

Why do you want me to get the desktop so bad?

Because its such a better choice, not only are you getting to be able to actually play the game, but you can also upgrade it down the road....
