Two Russian Officers Killed During a Heist

Featured Replies

For the first time in Russia (since 1991 at least), and damn sure for the first time in Saint Petersburg, the most beautiful Russian city, police officers are killed on purpose by several gunmen for money. I can't even believe that here, in my city, 4 to 6 people armed with assault rifles, hand grenades and equipped with body armor pulled of a GTA V style heist: they had a stolen truck used to block the police car's path, a getaway vehicle, and they were wearing clown masks. After they were done, they set the truck and the police car on fire. In the police car a wounded officer was burnt alive.

As far as I know, they stole around 300 000 000 rubles, or somewhere 4 million USD, via killing a police colonel and a police major of the Special Mobile Task force. Still no leads and no clues. I mean, what the actual fuck. Even during roaring 90's, when gangs of all kinds were out there, nothing like that ever happened. Either people are really desperate, or the world goes crazy fast.

Really sorry to hear. All of your picture links are broken, by the way. Nobody saw where the getaway truck went? I'd imagine the FSB would be on this considering the amount of money stolen.

Damn that sucks, RIP to the officers...

Where did they stole the money from? Also were they chased by the police car up to the place of the shooting, from the images in the link the area doesn't look like the scene of the heist. These are not the actions of desperate people, more like greedy thugs.

Hope this way they work

The getaway car was a blue Hyundai with stolen plates. It's a really quiet area, so no immediate witnesses. The FSB doesn't handle those cases (though they'll most certainly will supervise and help), and the amount of money is still unclear because the owners don't want to cooperate and reveal the exact number. They are afraid of tax prosecutions, I guess.

The money were transported in the police car, which is strange, they usually just provide escorts to armored vehicles. So they blocked the road by a truck, shot the cops, set the truck and the police car on fire and left.

Aha, now it makes a lot more sense. It also makes me think that the police officers were ambushed and gunned down without been given the chance to surrender. Any information if there was gunfire exchanged? Unfortunately this sounds like and inside job, I really hope it wasn't someone in the police force who tipped the robbers.

Nah, no chance. Russian police very rarely uses guns, so I doubt they even realised how serious the threat was when they saw a truck blocking the road. See, it's unusual for police to die from gunfire here. And like I said, a robbery like this had never happened here.

And you're right, it looks pretty dirty.
