Steam - Friends issue

Featured Replies

One of my IRL friends is trying to add me through steam but it's coming out with a 'full friends list' even though I only have 2 friends on it.

I've read on forums that it usually has something to do with your account e.g. not spending enough but I'm assuming that you've spent way over £5 on steam due to how long you've been a member of this website.. aha

Yeah, I've probably spent about £100 now.

thought so, haha. i did read that apparently blocking the person you want to add and then unblock and then try adding would fix it but i personally dont think that would work..

Either you or your friend hasn't purchased anything via PayPal or credit card.

This restriction might seen stupid, but it's to prevent spam on the Steam network.

If you both have spent a decent amount via Steam (and via PayPal or credit card, not codes, G2A, gifts, etc) then one of your accounts is possibly flagged and you will need to contact Steam support (good luck).

Sometimes your Steam level will limit how many friends you can have on your list, every 5 or 10 levels you get an extra XX amount of friends slots.

15 friends i think.

Has your IRL friend ever paid for anything with his own payment method? according to Steam, a person is limited until they have spent $5 USD or added $5 USD to their steam wallet, they stress that they mean USD, I do not know the conversion rates on what  £5 is to USD but they only convert the balance to USD.

lol, no. It's 250 default plus 5 per level plus 50 for linking Facebook.

@Starmix If you add him then he should be able to accept it, he just can't send invites until he spends that $5.

How do I add friends as a limited user?

As a limited user your account is restricted from adding friends. However, you can still accept friend invites from other non-limited users. For example, if a friend is already on Steam and has spent $5 USD or more from the Steam store, they will be able to add you as a friend from your Steam Community profile. You may then accept their friend invite from your Steam account.
