Computer Specs for Smooth GTA IV (with LCPDFR, of course)

Featured Replies

Hi. I need some help deciding on specs for my new computer. I need to know which one would run GTA IV smoother and give me more FPS.

1st Build

Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-4765T Processor 4-Core (8M Cache, up to 3.0 GHz)

Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX GPU 2GB GDDR5

RAM: 8GB Dual Channel DDR3L 1600MHz RAM

2nd Build

Processor: 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-4460 Processor (Quad Core, 6MB Cache, up to 3.4GHz w/ Turbo Boost)

Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 745 with 4GB DDR3

RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600Mhz

Thanks :)

Hey insanepixel,

I think you are better going off with the second build. I can tell you with experience that the i5 is more then good enough to play the game. I have one actually and it plays it fine. The graphics card is generally where you want to spend your money most, as this is where most games nowadays require more power from. That being said, I have a 3gb Nividia Geforce gtx 780ti and can play the game fine, although there is some lag here and there. Not terrible and really barley noticeable. So with 4gb you should have  more then plenty for playing this game. Hope this helps=)

The size of the frame buffer (memory) is exaggerated and in no way benefits the GPU

^Quoted from game debate.
4GB for this card is completely worthless, since once you will actually need that much VRAM, since the GPU itself does not have the power to drive it.
The second build only has DDR3 too, meaning the memory performance and bandwidth will be lower.

I agree with most of that BUT the GPU @insanepixel listed in the second build is DDR3 vram which is slower compared to GDDR5. In fact DDR3 on GPU's is extremely bad.

@
insanepixel  I highly suggest you avoid pre built systems like the 2 you posted, and buy the parts seperate, you can then either build it yourself or take it to a shop and get them to assemble it, this would be cheaper and also perform better than a pre built. If you do get a someone to assemble it for you then ask around as the average computer shop down the high street will be overpriced (still better than a prebuilt).

How much are you looking at spending?
