Vehicle Modding Question

Featured Replies

I am having trouble understanding how and why vehicle mods go into the places they do. For example, some vehicle mods are put into patchday3ng while others are put into patchday2ng and so on. Let's say I replace the police2 files in the vehicles.rpf file in the patchday2ng folder. The car may still be the vanilla vehicle in game even though I replaced the files. However, if I put those files in the vehicles.rpf file in the patchday3ng folder, the mod will work in game. Why is this the case? Sorry if this is a basic question, I am just having trouble understanding. I am just curious.

As DLCs update certain cars the ones in the old dlcs continue to stay there wasting space. So depending on which DLC made changes to that car last, change where you need to put it...

Interesting. So how does one know which DLC made changes to the car last? Simply trial and error?

IIRC, you can put it in any later DLC folder as well.

This clears things up a little. My thanks goes to both you and Century.

so if you want to add a vehicle, it will work with any of the latest DLC packs that may have been added from the latest R* updates?

like now (that Ive had to reinstall) I have mpchristmas2, mpheist, mpluxe, mpluxe2, mppatchesng, mpreplay, mppatchday 1-6ng, 2bng. so when I want to add 'add-on' cars do I still put them in x64e or in mpreplay (for example)?

lspdfr plugin or GTA V crashed? find your Rage log in your gta folder, usually found after ragepluginhook.exe and open it, hit Ctrl a, open pastebin.com, select new paste, hit Ctrl v, get the link after you pasted it and supply that with your issue in the specific mod topic, it helps the developer diagnose the problem you may have.

Should avoid the patchday files unless just editing existing vehicles. I recommend using mpchristmas2; when I went to using mpluxe2, I started getting memory errors. I went back to christmas with the same vehicles and no issues yet. Sometimes you'll find that some vehicles can cause crashes using that, and those you can stick in mpluxe2 as I've done with several.

so.... your recommendation is to use the mpchristmas2 DLC for all or most "add-on" cars or just stick with where the readmes tell you to put them? (in other DLC packs)?
and I have ALOT of "add-on" vehicles.

Personally, I put every new and edited vehicle files in patchday5ng. Its vehicle.rpf is only around 13MB so it's easy for me to keep track of any new vehicles I put in.
