[RESOLVED] White lights on Stanier lightbar

Featured Replies

Does anyone know why the lights on my Stanier lightbars look...white?

I have the Improved Coronas Mod (v4.0) and the Amber Parking Lights mod, and the lights on the Stanier have ALWAYS looked like this. It doesn't matter if its LSPD or LSSD.

The Buffalo and Interceptor lights are also not perfect, but they look much better. The blue lights almost seem too bright. I don't seem to have the 'orange red lights' issue that others have had, but the blue's really don't look that great.

It looks so bad that I don't drive the Stanier at ALL because of it.

Any ideas?

  • OMG! IT WORKS! I had my Post FX set to Normal and set it to Ultra and BAM that fixed the issue! I still didn't replace the Sheriff Cruiser so I tested it out and it's great! Nice & bright. :D

  • Right, so I guess that was it, lol.  I had Post FX set at normal thinking it was a worthless setting that would just waste VRAM. Guess I was completely wrong on that one!  All of the credit for solv

Try this mod in addition to the Improved Coronas:

I've tried that mod as well...but I didn't really like the look of it. It definitely got rid of the white lights, though.

I use this mod with the improved coronas instead of the Tir6 one:

It does the same thing as the Tir6 mod (gets rid of the washed out red/orange blue/white looking lights), but keeps the default LED look of the lights. It also changes the lightbar glass to a cool looking clear style instead of the red/blue colored glass. I used the Tir6 for a while (but I also disliked how it looked - personal preferences and all that), although I find that I prefer this one much, much more.

He doesn't list it in his mods, but I'm pretty sure Jeff Favingano uses this one as well. That or he has found some other way to deal with the washed-out-lights from the improved corona mod. Don't quote me on that.

So I still do not know what is causing this, and still no solution.

As a temporary bandaid fix, I have removed the visualsettings.dat file from the Improved Coronas mod, and replaced it with the stock file. The lights are not as bright, but at least now, they are not washed out.

Thanks!

Nope, just the workaround I posted. I'm starting to think that it might be a driver issue. I'll have to experiment with it when I have time.

Unfortunately I can't just download the newest driver from Nvidia, because of how my laptop's dual graphics are set up. Once the manufacturer has an update, I can try it.

To anyone that still has the issue: it's a problem with the way the Stanier texture is made. The mod only makes the problem worse.

Unmodded texture for the Stanier lights:

Law Enforcement Improvements contains a mod (it's called LED Lights Improvements) that fixes the texture.

I'll have to give that a try, or maybe I'll try the TIR6 LED mod again. Thanks!

For those who is having an issue with the brightness on the lightbar while using my mod, please download the above links to tir6 led texture mod. The vanilla textures are crap and washed out.

It all comes down to custom led texture that is a bit white which will allow brighter coronas. It's definitely not my mod thats causing the issue but rather the models you are using which comes with stellar light textures.

version 7, I will try and include custom led textures for users to install and gain that pretty LED results.

How will installing that mod affect custom vehicles, or vehicles with custom-made lightbars?

Again, it all falls down to what texture is on the lightbar. For example, one CVPI mod that is available right now has red/blue whelen textures and unfortunately it darkens the corona. So I replaced them with my led texture that is brighter and whiter which allows the corona to mirror it's brightness and maximize the overall brightness.
