Caprice

So, the other night, I saw the 2012 Caprice police car in service for the first time. Has anyone else seen it in use?

How good it looks IRL?

I remember seeing a few out there on the internets

LAPD:

Note the new Code3 lightbar, deck lights as well as a pushbar plastered in lights, this probably won't be their final light package, this is more likely a car given to LAPD by Chevy

Kent, Ohio:

They seem to be rusing old lightbars, and going for a smaller mount of lights, only two forward facing lights on the pushbar, and two junction lights on the side of the pushbar.

Broward County Sheriff, Florida

Getting new FedSig Vision SLR's with clear dome covers, seems very inefficient.

Discreet has hell.

Fuck you, also accidentally a letter or two

The Broward and Kent cars are unattractive. Kent is a college town, very busy, it surprises me they went with the caprice instead of the Impala. LAPD looks good, however, like you said, it's probably not their light package, probably one provided to them by Chevy. That's not even their standard lightbar as far as I know. That's the Alaska State Trooper's standard, however, I do not see this car being implemented in that state.

The unmarked, it it weren't for the spotlight, you couldn't even tell it's a police car. I mean, other than the obvious that the model is only available to the police. But, without a cage in the back, it's most likely not a patrol unit, probably a detective unit, which, what's the point of hiding them if they're just going to be going to scenes to do investigations?

EDIT: Quick question, other than the bars on the window, does anyone even see a cage on ANY of the vehicles NB posted pictures of? I don't actually see a cage on any of them....

Any semi professional police force will evaluate their equipment packages from time to time to accommodate for new arrivals on the market, and price changes, hopefully they've gotten some common sense and are ditching the FedSig Arjent for the Code3 2100 or Whelen Liberty as used on Southland.

Not every force has every car equipped with a cage, they cost a lot of money, and the cages for the CVPI/Imp aren't compatible with the new models going into service, LAPD does not use cages as far as I am aware, they only use a perspex divider between front seats and rear seats The Broward County one does have a cage, which can be seen by the bars in the rear windows.

Cages are not only common around my area, I think they're required by most agencies, as a way of protecting the officer. And yes, the standard form of a "cage" is a plexi screen in between the front seat and back seat, but my impression when looking at these cars is that there is no way to even fit a cage in there, while still fitting someone in the back seat.

EDIT: Here's an article about Officer's skepticism about the car because of how small it is. http://www.policemag.com/Channel/Vehicles/Articles/2011/11/Choosing-Caprice.aspx

Apparently, in the end though, their concern is addressed when they sit in it and like it.

The Caprice is small! Are you gone out of your mind!? It is bigger than the Charger and I guess it's the same if not larger than the Crown Victoria!

It´s enormous, just as always.

whats the point of a computer in the trunk lol

If you have only seen what I saw...
