Hi there,

Every time I call for either normal or NOOSE backup using Alt-B and Alt-N, my game immediately crashes without warning. It's often a couple seconds after I hit the keyboard combo, so I have enough time to see the "I need assistance in [LOCATION]" radio message, but then the screen goes black, the screen shows the game frozen and the sound playing for a second or so and then fully crashes.

Anyone have any ideas?

    UPDATE: Tried without ELS, no joy - still same crashes occur on backup calls and PTU calls. This is not an ELS issue, it would appear.

    Hi there,

    Every time I call for either normal or NOOSE backup using Alt-B and Alt-N, my game immediately crashes without warning. It's often a couple seconds after I hit the keyboard combo, so I have enough time to see the "I need assistance in [LOCATION]" radio message, but then the screen goes black, the screen shows the game frozen and the sound playing for a second or so and then fully crashes.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    hello i will try to search around and see what i can find. one thing though try running the game without Razor and see what happens. I use Game Booster (used to i should say) because it seemed like when i would use it i had more crashes..like it was shutting down something i needed in game. i can't say for sure but i have way fewer crashes since i stopped using my Game Booster 3.

    another question is have you tried calling backup through the QAM instead of pushing Alt B or Alt N?

    you can press the CapsLock button to bring up the menu. it actually has alot of features from backup to telling your partner what to do. try that out and see if you can call backup through QAM without a crash.  also if you start the game and press start go to the Graphics tab and see if you can change some things in there to lower your CPU usage. lowering water textures and shadows can dramatically increase the quality of your game. there are other things you can do in there to change CPU usage so just tick around in there and see what happens.

    Sadly, no joy. Still get the crash, even with graphics quality way down and calling through the QAM. I can call ambulances or the fire service just fine, but if I try to call a police unit or a NOOSE unit, I always crash. :/

    hmm ok try the vhd police helper mod. It's comes with built in command for back up. Make sure u back up your game first in case it messes u up. Lemme know if it helps or not.

    Just gave all three a go, no joy :( Turned off all PoliceHelper events, nothing. I use Double Doppler's "Ultimate Met Police Pack" cars, which are all ELS. My LCPDFR.ini has PreloadAllModels. But still nothing :'(

If you want a more immersive callout system, you could always add in Callouts+ by LukeD http://www.lcpdfr.com/files/file/5017-callouts/ Bravehearts script unfortunately wasnt made to work with 1.0 or 1.1

    Sorry for the late reply. So I tried swapping out my Doppler cars that I had already with the Met Police Battenburg Pack, and it works a bit better now. Still not fantastic-amazing-everything is awesome, but it is better.

     

    Okay, so this is where it gets interesting. I can't call for backup still, but I can have loads of cars spawning in a car chase. Surely that's indicative that it's a problem only associated with CfB and not the mod?

     

    Okay, so the problem actually lies with ELS it seems. I removed ELS completely, and it decided to work. BUT, Doppler's cars don't seem to work without ELS. So... Should I contact ELS devs and see if they will fix it, or Doppler and ask him for non-ELS versions, or both?

     

    I'm only so attached to Doppler's cars because I really want a Met Police force. (I'm a Londoner.)

    When I went back to ELS 8.5, the crashes on backup started occurring again. Obviously since I can't even get into LCPDFR with ELS 8, I don't know if it would work or not.

    Do NOT use xliveless and ELS together. They don't work.

    Once I started using dsound instead of xliveless, ELS worked fine, and I can call for backup and ptrans again.

    Spoke too soon. This is getting really weird. It worked for one play, but after that it stops again... Any ideas, anyone?

     

    This is nuts! I had a fresh install, it worked with all my mods for one game, and now it's broken. I just uninstalled all my mods, and reinstalled LCPDFR, and it still doesn't work!

    To clarify, these are the steps I took. BW = backup works, BDW = backup doesn't work

    1. Nuked the entire GTA install - N/A
    2. Installed EFLC - N/A
    3. Installed LCPDFR - BW
    4. Installed mods - BW
    5. Exited successful game - BW
    6. Started new game - BDW
    7. Removed all mods - BDW
    8. Removed and reinstalled LCPDFR - BDW

     

    Aand even that was simply coincidence it seems - I reinstalled again and it didn't work right from the get-go. I'm having the same issues that Doppler (my car pack's maker) had with his install up to "Day #24" on his The British Way LCPDFR series. I reached out to him but he is yet to reply.

     

    (It might be good if a mod could clean up and concatenate some of these posts, seeing as this seems to be my eternal monologue now...)

    Please, can anyone help? Double Doppler is not replying (if anyone has any better ways of contacting him, it would be much appreciated - I've contacted him via YouTube, PM here, status feed here, email through a Google Form of his...) and the fact that I cannot call for any backup whatsoever makes the game pretty much unplayable - especially when you're an unarmed Met Police officer against five armed suspects...
