I also learned that he was in the Army. I never knew that about him.

I think the point Lund is trying to make is that he isn't a well known man. I've never heard of him, so I Googled him but couldn't find any outstanding achievements or whatnot, so what did he actually do (not to sound harsh) to warrant live coverage of his funeral?

​He is the son of the Vice President of the United States. I don't recall him actually doing anything politically outstanding, but he did great things while he was alive nonetheless. He's done a lot more than simply be the son of the Vice President, far too much to explain and describe. It's a very sad time for Americans that participate in politics, and those familiar with the Biden family. If you are not too familiar with American politics and Joe Biden, then this will probably appear to be completely irrelevant. This is a big deal to those of us that are, though.

Like IntentionalDefiance said, he is the son of the Vice President. He was also the Attorney General in Delaware and received a Gold Star in the Army. I admit I didn't know much about him, but I don't think anyone knows every single political person in the US. He seems like he was a good guy and from the sounds of it, deserves the funeral he got and the attention he has.

NOTE: This is my personal opinion. I respect if you don't think so.

What a wonderful guy, with an amazing record of success in his life. No matter what way you lean politically, it's a tragedy. 

And shame on Ted Cruz for making fun of Joe Biden at this time, that really didn't sit well with me.
