oh please...its common knowledge by now, back in the 80s Rumsfeld shook hands with saddam and we supplied him with weapons including chemical when they were in a war with iran, the united states government has been in atleast 200 wars you should try to take a hint...you cant possible think that our government doesn't do acts of terrorism...900 bases in 153 countries bombing innocent kids, men, women its no wonder why we are referred to as the great satan

heres just ONE example of our government admitting to there creation of al queda https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=md-Ssme8RPc

heres Rumsfeld shaking hands with the enemy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r42oejmpkgw

im sorry that im not brainwashed by the high tech propaganda but you do have an internet so I suggest that you go back in history and look up other how other countries turned tyrannical that used false flag terror operations, Nazi Germany was one of them

That is just one example of people twisting words to fit their agenda. The U.S. did not create al-Qaeda or ISIS. We funded the Mujahideen in the 80s when they were fighting against the Soviets in Afghanistan. There are lots of people (Osama Bin Laden included) who were part of the Mjuahideen in the 80s and received help from us. This isn't a secret and it isn't the first time we have done something like that. Just because we were "allies" with someone 30-40 years ago doesn't mean they will be our allies forever. We fought against the British from the 1770s-1800s does that mean that we have to be enemies with the British for the rest of our lives?

  • What does this have to do with the PATRIOT act? This just sounds like a rant to me.   The PATRIOT act is unconstitutional under the 4th and 9th amendment. It was Bush's way to say 'Hey actually guys,

  • Tell me why it's better not to have it then to have it. It was created to protect the U.S from terrorists acts, and to help LEA (Law Enforcement Agencies) preventing and obstructing acts of terrorism.

It is unconstitutional and incredibly ineffective. There's a reason why none of the mostly Republican politicians can point to a single case where the Patriot Act, or any other unconstitutional surveillance program, has helped stop domestic terrorism. 9/11 created a huge surge of panic and money in the intelligence community, and we've completely lost our system of checks and balances. Its just power for power's sake, and they've tricked some of you into thinking its keeping you safe.

I never thought it kept us safe, I always thought of it as a way for big brother to keep a closer look on all of us honestly. And you that criticize Bush about it, well atleast Bush didn't say he would use UAVs to kill Americans or remove military generals that wouldn't fire on Americans. Get your facts straight. As for ISIS, it moved into Iraq AFTER Obama decided to pull all American troops out of Iraq. Fact is everyone also says Iraq was fought over lies. Pure bullshit. The media has even publisized that we found WMD in Iraq. So quit with the blaming of Bush cause I am sick of hearing it. As far as anyone talking about Iraq, if you didn't serve there, shut up. I served 3 times there as a Marine, and saw the good we did. If we had stayed and FINISHED what our mission was, to rebuild the country, ISIS wouldn't be there and if it had come from Syria into Iraq the Iraqi military would have been prepared and able to fight them instead of turning tail and running. You need to stop watching the crap the media tells you and get outside sources and learn the truth and stop being sheep.

Come on, that war was hyped up beyond belief. We were told that if we didn't invade Iraq, that there would be mushroom clouds on US soil. Except Iraq never...ever attacked us, and by some kind of coincidence, powerful people in the country made tens of billions of dollars off of the war. I admire your service to the country, I really do. I know that I don't have the courage to do what you did. But it makes me furious that you were sent into an endless war. We spent ten years there, at the cost of hundreds of thousands of civilians and thousands of US servicemen and women. But to say that no one but people who were there have a right to comment on that is absurd. We share this country and we elect the people who send us to war. We all have a responsibility to make sure that we don't allow ourselves to potentially destroy the world over a lie.

The Iraq War was one of, if not the largest foreign policy disaster in American history. They told us it would be a quick and easy military operation, and they lied. The weapons we were looking for didn't exist. Sure, there probably were some kinds of chemical weapons found in Iraq years later. But we were all lied to, there was never the risk of a "mushroom cloud" on American soil. They just used the fear and panic of post-9/11 to justify a war they had wanted to fight already.

And ISIS came out of the chaos of post-war Iraq, not a decision made by the current president.

Tying this back into the Patriot Act, its just another way for the government to feed off of the fear of terrorism. In the 60s it was communism. Terrorism is just the current boogeyman, and we're allowing ourselves to be terrified. And when that happens, we lose freedom.

Indeed the second gulf war wasn't based on anything, and to back it up I'd like to mention the NATO security council. The NATO system is simple. If a country member of the NATO is attacked, all the other countries -have to help them. However, if a country member of NATO wants to attack another country without viable reason, other country members have the right to refuse to bring their help. When the US wanted to invade Iraq because they supposedly had weapons of massive destruction, US representatives were unable to prove their point, thus many country members refused to join the US in this foolish attack, including mine, France (and I'm so very thankful for that, I'm tired of wars, especially the ones that are pretty useless).

Besides, sure Saddam Hussein was a dictator, but he actually did a lot of good things in his country, such as hospitals, schools, and quite a honest freedom for people (for example, women weren't forced to wear this veil on their head). To me, if the US didn't start this whole thing, the situation in the middle east would be -a lot- calmer. It wouldn't be paradise, but it would also not be the mess it is today.

I'm almost certain that the Middle East would still be chaos, even if the Unitrd States hadn't invaded Iraq OR Afghanistan. Those people have been murdering each other for centuries over radicalism and extremism. I can agree that the United States only fueled the fire by deploying into those countries, but I honestly don't think that the situation would be any better. No one should be surprised at the effect of 9/11. One day there's peace, the next day 3,000 people are dead, several planes are downed, the pentagon destroyed, several buildings helplessly collapsed and on fire, and the White House barely escaping a plane crash. The United States was pissed, confused, and nationalism skyrocketed. U.S. involvement in the Middle East was inevitable at this point. Even if the U.S. hadn't invaded the Middle East, it would still be the disgusting mess that we see today. The U.S. only added fuel to the fire and grilled smores.

Actually WMD was found, aka not only chemical weapons, but also yellow cake aka enriched uranium buried in the desert. And Saddam was working on building missiles that COULD reach the united states. So yes he did have the capability and was a threat. Not to mention after the first gulf war the UN said he MUST allow UN inspectors in to inspect when they wanted. That was another key factor for war in 2003. He refused to allow inspectors in to the country and finally did right before we invaded. Why? At that time it was too late. One nice thing about being in the military was that I had access to information everyone else didn't. And fact is ISIS wouldn't have tried to come into Iraq if we hadn't pulled out. So yes it is this current administrations fault for ISIS controlling a lot of the country. And fact is sadly people think that what chemical weapons we found were old and weren't usable because they were built in the 70s-80s. Chemical weapons don't go bad, because if they did, why is it they are finding mustard shells in FRANCE from WW1 that still are making people sick?

And for you that don't know the definition of WMD, weapons of mass destruction, that means chemical, biological and nuclear. NOT just nuclear, because chemical and biological cause mass destruction as well, via population destruction. And also yellow cake, or enriched uranium, what was found buried in the Iraqi desert, is used for nuclear weapons. Why have enriched uranium buried in the desert? To hide it. Why was he wanting to build missles that would have the range to reach the united states? Put two and two together.

It's funny how people claim that the media has blinded the American population when in reality, they are just as blind.

There are a lot of Americans that are ashamed of our recent history, and we're glad France and other countries were able to avoid the war.

In a lot of ways we made the same mistake in Vietnam. I hope this time we've learned the lesson.

Just as blind? I saw it first hand, I lived it. I was there. I know exactly what was found. I have read countless reports on what was found in regards to WMD. Blind? I don't think so.

Fact is if Saddam had let the UN arms inspectors in to do their jobs like he was mandated to do after the Gulf war in 91, we would never have gone into Iraq. That simple. As for Vietnam and Korea obviously we didn't listen because we did the same in Iraq and Afghanistan that we did in Korea and Vietnam, sadly our government doesn't have the guts to finish a war that they start. If we had stayed in Iraq ISIS wouldn't have came to power, Iran wouldn't be trying to take the country over, and Iraq would have a rebuilt military and infrastructure and government that were worth a shit and didn't fold under pressure. But no, we started taking casualties, the media wouldn't show the good we did and what we were doing, they would rather talk about casualties because the good we did doesn't bring in ratings.
