Not if you're so negligent as to not check your line of fire.

Yep! Even if this guy wasn't a felon he wouldn't survive the hiring process...he'd get weeded out due his obvious isssues...

  • You as a felon cannot posses a firearm or ammunition as per U.S.C. § 921(a)(20). Federal law is the supreme law of the U.S. as indicated in the Supremacy Clause.    I am guessing by "unlawful assaul

  • Judges don't give pardons, at least not in the US. Governors do (it's an executive power, not a judicial power, and one generally restricted to the chief executive personally). He'd have to go to the

  • I'm sorry if this stings, but they didn't throw anything away. You did.    As suggested above, a different line of work is probably the best route to take.

I'm going to be bluntly honest with you. Find a different career. You could spend the rest of your life trying for something that you will not obtain. What I want you to realize is, EVEN IF YOU GET A PARDON, that doesn't gaurentee your hire. They will STILL know about your charge. Most if not all applications flat out ask, have you been charged with or convicted of a felony, to which you'd have to answer yes or you'd be lying. The expungment would remove it from regular jobs seeing anything, but law enforcement is all knowing. Once you have an FBI number it doesn't simply go away. A pardon can excuse it from your normal record, but it still is on your record. Secondly, Law enforcement is a very competitive field, so even saying that in a year a law was passed and the expungment would completely take it off your record, as soon as one person found out, you would be removed for someone(of which there are many applicants) without a felony. It hurts, I understand and I'm not trying to sound like an asshole, but it is what it is. The longer you hold onto it the harder it will be to accept. Try finding a different career. You are chasing someone that it at this point unrealistic.

Honestly.. Even if your charge was removed.. no police force will hire you because the chance of them getting a bad reputation is high, You was stupid and shot a kid in the back with a BB gun, how do they know that you won't do it out in the street with a REAL gun?, plus failing to check the line of fire wouldn't work.. to shoot someone in the back you would've needed a clean shot, so by aiming the gun, you would've known he was there.. unless he just came out of nowhere.

with your charge, people will find out and will harass that department, you're too much of a safety and a reputation risk for any department in the world to even consider hiring you. plus like Dayton17 said, a pardon is only going to work on regular jobs, any law enforcement jobs will find that charge.. since they have access to files that the public can't view. if i was you, i'd consider finding a new career and forgetting about the policing career.. that went out the window when you were charged.

Is BB gun the kind made of plastic and firing plastic "bullets"? Cause there also are made of metal and use metal bullets, and I'm not sure what word in English is used to describe it.

I'm asking this to get a better understanding of the charge.

I can relate to your situation i made some mistakes when i was juvenile i was arrested twice but i was never convicted so i don't have a felony or misdemeanor record. However an arrest record for a felony does not look good to Law Enforcement recruiters and as other people have stated depending on where you live Law Enforcement can be very competitive.  I completed the academy and spoke to several agencies and they told me i could apply but i would have to bring supporting documentation and explain the situation. I live in Florida and i spoke to a recruiter for FHP about it and he stated they get over 13,000 applications for troopers so they have more than enough candidates to choose from.

Now being in Law Enforcement was always my dream as well so i can emphasize with you but i don't think you can or will be hired as a Law Enforcement officer anywhere in the United States. I know this is hard for you to accept but you just have to understand that and move on with your live. Its not over your still alive and free to do whatever you chose. I have taken a different career in the private sector which allows me to still do what i wanted to. I think you will find that Law Enforcement is not all that its cracked up to be and you find better opportunities in another field.

Dude what was the of you responding. If you felt that I posted this for attention, why feed into it. Sounds to me like your the one wanting attention. You can't give constructive criticism it is always best to say nothing at all. No one forced you to read or accept my statement.  And as far as trolling is concerned, I am a grown man I am not a teenager or some immature little child I have known time to waste unnecessarily.

Good day

Ok I will tell you the same thing that myself and everyone else told you less than six months ago again. You will most likely never become a cop with a felony on your record. Sorry that your dreams are crushed but that is the reality and the sooner you accept that and move on to find a different job the easier it will be.

Nope. Not going to happen. You made a stupid decision and that's going to carry with you. Kissing ass to a judge and begging and pleading is not going to get you a pardon. You want one, go earn it. Go do community service, volunteer, help the community, and then MAYBE a judge would even CONSIDER it; and that's after years of doing those things.

If you want to be cop SO BAD, join the military. They give moral waivers for just about anything, short of rape and murder 2. Go be an MP or something. At least you'll do cop stuff.

Highly doubt the military will take him. We are in a huge draw down now that we aren't in Iraq and Afghanistan anymore. In the Army they are looking for any reason to kick people out and I know when I enlisted they had people come in to the recruiters office with felonies on their record and they immediately told them they couldn't join. Again, it is one of those things that is possible but highly unlikely and even if it does happen he won't get any MP position because, at least in the Army, that MOS requires eligibility for a Secret clearance which he would never be able to receive. Best case scenario, a branch lets him in and he can enlist as a cook or one of the other jobs that don't require a security clearance and there aren't very many in the Army that don't require you to be eligible for a security clearance.

Unfortunately, you made a mistake, and you're no longer eligible for appointment as a peace officer in any State or Country at this time.

I know an individual who was turned down because they had two charges on their youth record, one count of Consuming Alcohol while Underage, and another for Being Intoxicated in a Public Space. They remained squeaky clean from then on but the police still turned them down for something that happened when they were a teenager. That individual is in a bit of a better position than you are, however, because they will still accept them, they just have to remain clean for another three years of any detected and undetected criminal activity, and they will have another shot at applying.

I can't think of any time I've heard of an individual being accepted into the police with a felony charge on an adult record. Regardless to the fact if it has been pardoned or not. If it's there, chances are they'll kindly show you the door.

As much as it does suck to have to face the fact that you are no longer eligible for the appointment, don't let me, or anyone else here stop you. If you want to still go ahead and attempt to get a pardon for the offence, and attempt to take entry exams for different agencies, go for it. I just highly doubt that any agency you attempt to apply for is going to see a felony involving some sort of bb gun, and allow you to carry a real firearm. If you're incapable of handling a bb gun, which is treated as a firearm, they're not going to be able to trust you with handling a real, live, firearm.
