Hey,

I was wondering how to change the colours of the ELS lights.

Im completely new to this so if there is an "Idiots Guide" that would really help :)

You can try to recolor the lights in the png file. Just recolor the coreponding lights matching the lightbar setup/design.

However, that can't always be done. It might be mapped for ex. all red. Then you have to change the color in Zmodeler, if possible.

That looks like ELS 8, if he has ELS 7 then it won't work.

yeah sorry the ELS lights on the cars. So atm some cars have red and blue lights.... is there  a way to change them to any colour?

Yes, you can, but you'll need some basic image editing knowledge.

Give this tutorial a looksie. https://www.lcpdfr.com/page/tutorials/index.action/_/texturing-tips-and-tutorials/how-to-change-els-lightbar-colors-r20

So I managed to change the appearance of the lights. But not the actual lighting ingame. Its still coming up as red instead of blue. Tried editing the ELS.ini file of the car but no luck.

Any other suggestions?

Do you mean the environment lighting is red or the actual light is red? If it's the environment lighting, then you need to change the color of the light in the vehicle configuration file for your car (assuming you are using ELS 7+). This would be in the ELS folder.

im using ELS 8.

So I have changed the .png file to show blue lights instead of red.

But obviously in game they still show red light. I cant change them to blue.

Here is the default file for this particular car.

I have tried to change several settings with no luck.

You would want to change these to whatever color you want those extras to be (blue in this case). Extras 1-4 are the primary lights, usually a lightbar. Extras 5-6 are warning lights, usually takedowns. Extras 7-9 are warning lights, usually a traffic adviser or message board. This all depends on the vehicle, of course. The main lights that shine the brightest are the primaries, extras 1-4.

That is for environmental lighting. If the actual light is still not blue, then there might be multiple places that you have to change the color. There could be multiple .png files in the .wtd that would need editing. Again, this all depends on the model.

It's possible that the vehicle you've chosen to edit has pre-mapped ELS colours that cannot be changed regardless of if you edit the lighting files or not.

Seems like it. Been going through a lot of vehicles and not been able to edit any.

Thanks for your help anyway guys!
