What do I do to disable Norton security because it won't let me auto install lcpdfr

I have the same issue with Norton 360. It's the LCPDFR Diagnostics tool that's preventing you from installing LCPDFR.

 

Here's what you do:

 

1. On Windows 7, look to the bottom right of the screen for the bar with icons straight across.

 

2. Look for a yellow square icon with a black symbol on it, the Norton icon. 

 

3. Once you've found the icon, right click it and a small menu should appear over the icon

 

4. Click "Disable auto-protect". A window should pop up asking you how long you'd like to disable it, choose one.(WARNING: This does weaken security)

 

5. After disabling auto protect, repeat steps 1 to 3, right clicking the icon so that the menu shows up again

 

6. There should be something else that you can disable as well, should be right below or above the " Disable auto-protect" option. I can't remember what it's called because I'm not on my personal laptop.

 

7. Disable this, and again a window should pop up asking for how long, choose one.

You have now disabled ALL anti-virus software and security on your PC. Once I get home, I can walk you through allowing LCPDFR to run, otherwise Norton will just remove some of the files when it get's re-enabled. This could break your entire GTA 4 folder. Please note that you are completely vulnerable at this point, since you've essentially disabled all protection on your PC. If you need anymore help, please quote this post!

One of the automatic installers contains some kind of ad thingy so we still make some money to keep the site running, but some antivirus programs count it a a virus, so you can do what CriminalKillaz said, download the other automatic installer or try the manual installer.

Hm? That can't be right. I was more reffering to the fact that Norton is quite horrible and slows your PC down.

1. First, open Norton so that you're on it's main interface. You can open Norton by double clicking on the small yellow icon in the bottom right corner. The interface should appear as a medium sized window, with four separate boxes; "Security, Identity, Backup, Tuneup".
2. Secondly, click "Security" and the box should move upwards and allow for more selections.
3. Click, "Manage Firewall".
4. After clicking "Manage Firewall" five options should appear. These being, "General Settings, Program Rules, Traffic Rules, etc...".
5. Click "Program Rules".
6. A list should appear, with four categories: One is blank, with icons below it for each file or program. Another says "Trust", another says "Program", and the last category should say "Access". These are all programs that Norton is currently monitoring, and whether or not it has access to your PC. If it's set to "Auto", then Norton will decide itself whether or not to allow the program to run. 
7. Scroll down the list until you see something named, "Diagnostics Tool". It should also say that it's location is, "....Rockstar GamesGrand Theft Auto IVLCPDFRLCPDFR Diagn.....
8. Once you've found "Diagnostics Tool", modify it's access. Change it from "Auto" to "Allow".
9. Hit "Apply" at the bottom, and you're good to go! You can close out of everything. If you re-install LCPDFR, you will need to do this again.

Ok so Lcpdfr is supposedly a low risk thing and i went on to norton and said don't delete low risk items. I couldn't find any of what you showed but might what i did be ok? Also should I turn off intrusion prevention?

LCPDFR is completely harmless and safe, Norton considers it a threat because of it's requirement of access. As long as you can run LCPDFR fine without any problems with Norton, everything is alright. I don't recommend disabling intrusion prevention, as this makes your PC more vulnerable to real threats.

Sorry what i meant was Norton classified it as a low level threat and I was wondering if i tell norton to ignore low level threats will lcpdfr work? Thank you!

Yes, this would allow LCPDFR to work normally as long as it's the same installation. If you re-install LCPDFR again(Download it from the downloads section), you'll run into the same problem again. This will allow LCPDFR to work, though it can also cause other real minor threats to go undetected as well. These can add up and slow down your PC altogether. There really isn't any way around this, it's just a con to having Norton internet security.
