Graphics Card Not Performing Like It Used To.

Featured Replies

I currently have an AMD Radeon HD 7670. When I first got my desktop in February of this year, My PC was amazing! It ran all my games on high with around 25-45 FPS. But i have been noticing that my games have been slowing down and I have had to drop some graphic settings for most of my games. The only thing i can think of that could be causing this is the re-install of Windows 8.1 After the install i went over to AMD's website and downloaded the latest video card drivers so i have no idea why this is happening.

I just bought the computer in February. Can anyone tell me why this could be happening? I clean my computer out of dust using a can of compressed air.

The card is probably heating up. Do you have fans in the computer? Was it a used computer?

And how much stuff have you added since February? Usually a ton of stuff on the computer uses up more resources and slows everything down.

Yes the computer has fans. I bought it referbished but as i said it worked amazingly when i got it. After re-installing the OS i have installed 30-40 programs but that is nothing compared to all the stuff that came pre-installed when i got the computer.

Any virus scans lately?

Have you cleaned the computer of dust? Dust is a large issue when it comes to performance ;)

I do virus scans regularly to keep them away! For the dusting part it has been a bit of time when i go to the store next time i'll grab a can of compressed air.

Alright, well make sure you quote me after you've cleaned it to see if that was it. I'm not too sure what else it could be.

Like theninja said, it's probably de_dust

Other than that, I can only think of deterioration over time, but the time factor is way too low.

My laptop is almost 2 years old now, & most of those 2 years it's been spent playing games; meaninig 90°+ temperatures. (Yeah, I know it's bad. But what else do I do for a broke teen?)

I'm interested to know what fixes your problem. :D
