Regarding Profile Lists

Featured Replies

I would like to stress this point, Lets say you are a modder or moddeler and you do your own work. You never steal ripp or release anything without proper permissions from they're respective authors, and then out of nowhere people start profiling you as a ripper or mod thief, and they start adding it to they're profile list. So you yourself are wondering why people are saying this. They haven't first come to you about the situation or proof and therefore are accusing you because of hear say or some other member who dosen't like you for whatever reason. Writing a list like that is a dangerous game to play. It will trigger all kinds of wars that could've been prevented. I myself am a primary target of accusations and about me profiling lists and after i said enough. Now i had two choices, Start a flame war or address the situation in an adult manner and that's what i did. I had a conversation with(won't say his name) to get to the bottom of this accusation. IT HAS YET TO BE SOLVED....

I personally feel as if profile lists are silly, be it respect lists or the antithesis thereof. Hell, I even disagree with the "last visitors" and "friendslist" functions, which - no offence intended - is why I was so reluctant on accepting the friend request IronicRainbow sent god knows how long ago now. It just seems silly. But that's just me, I suppose.

Why people can't keep to themselves who they don't like is beyond me - I've got a couple that I'm not fond of, and placing that shit in public view is gasoline waiting for a spark. I don't quite see how you're going to go about enforcing this, however, because different people might see "I don't like this guy for this reason" as a personal attack.

Well, considering the community guidelines place that under the "Abuse" status

Abuse

We all want to have a good time here across the entire G17 Media Network. Any member found to be intentionally preventing other members from enjoying themselves, be that by abusing, teasing, demeaning, 'flaming' or 'trolling' them, will be subject to serious consequences. This policy also extends to personal profiles. Members can't use their profiles as a way to write abusive remarks about others.

you could report the person to the community team and have them change it if the person won't, but still....people should have a right (even though this is a privately owned site) to have a list of people that they don't like (not being particular to your case)

You really care about what those people think about you? they have no idea who you are and vice versa

the situation you just laid out sounds extremely childish and immature on both ends no offense...

I figure I'll catch a ton of flak for saying this, if not warned and/or banned, but this site has no real direction. As somebody has already said, so many things have happened and caused the staff to take completely different stances. This has caused many moderators to tolerate some things, and driven others on a crusade against them. There needs to be some authoritative (or even more authoritative if there even is one) voice to make it clear what WILL and WILL NOT be tolerated on these forums, instead of every 4 months some random staff/team member addressing "issues". It seems there is no real "leadership" among the team (sorry if I just hurt whomever the leader is, just giving you honest criticism) If you haven't noticed, I shy away from topics related specifically to mods and releases, due to the baby politics surrounding them.

Also, a purely personal note, I think profile lists are nothing but kissing ass to members (I'm not trying to start a fight or call anyone out). It's why I don't have lists and never will. I like and respect everyone here equally, until you give me a reason not to.

And directly to the topic at hand, I think this issue is quite sad and something that shouldn't have to be said. If you can't handle criticism, then you're probably not mature enough to be on this site. Unless someone is posting racial or prejudiced slurs about members, there is nothing wrong with a negative list. In fact, they could, in a way, be used to help better the site petition-wise.

I couldn't agree more with this, well said.

Having a profile list myself i highly DISAGREE with the ass kissing part. I don't have a list to kiss ass. I have a list to show my support towards people that either hepled me alot, i have a great time with, OR helped building the community.

The last thing i wanna do is suck up to anyone with my list. I don't mention people like BxBugs on my list to kiss his ass. He prolly dosen't even know me. His name is on that list because he provided lots of mods i highly enjoy. And People like Sergiyj, Rocking_Star and so on, are on my List because i simply had a great time chatting with them. OF COURSE i respect everyone on this website. Not just the people on that list. that list is simply there to highlight people i have a good connection with OR modders which mods i really enjoy.
