My dreams are being crushed

Featured Replies

How is this not the place? I'm pretty sure there was somebody last week who posted a thread about freaking sponge bob and their favorite episode. You're kidding right? Lol I'm not actually!  This is more of a legit thread than that man..

This isn't really the place to post stuff like this, but I guess an exception has been made.

Don't let anybody tell you what you can and cant do. If you always care about what they said or say to you. You will cause (what they said to you) to come true. Make your dreams come true kid. Don't let them crush your dreams because of who you are or what you do. Stand up for what you do, flick them off your shoulder and move on up to make that dream come true. I got a little knocked down today myself (except that was a CVPI skin I made.) I got terrible feedback that just made me want to stop what i'm doing and go back to being bored or boring. Do what you think you were born to do, don't let them dictate to you. Like me, im moving on from the situation, but i'm still doing it. Use their negativity as motivation, do what they can't do, it may sound a little "old fasion", but it works. I suggest you do the same. Hope I was a help.

This is the General & Miscellaneous section, where almost anything goes. Sometimes people want advice from a screen rather than face to face, which is perfectly understandable, especially if they

Just ignore them. When people say that i won't be able to become a US Marine or a police officer i just walk away.

If you cant become a fighter pilot, you can still be RCAF Pilot, they need pilots for the CC-130's and the CC-177 Globemaster 3's. Your not in a fighter,  but at least you are still flying. Also the Canadian Coast Guard and Search and Rescue needs pilots as well for there missions.

Thats what i was thinking plus i can be a tanker pilot take pics too :D

Actually being a pilot is looked at as being kick-ass. Take that from a Security Forces guy. We're looked down upon by almost everybody in every branch.....  But it is extremely hard to get into.

Wait do you mean being a pilot is extremely hard to get into or Security Forces?

That's a really, really bad backup plan - many of the things which would disqualify you from being a fighter pilot disqualify you from being an airline pilot. It works if you fail to convince the RCAF that you're officer material (fighter pilots are officers, not just pilots); if you don't adapt well to the military; and if you don't pass a military flight physical but still pass an ATP physical, but the physical required to fly scheduled commercial passenger service is not "are you physically fit" -- there are a *lot* of medical conditions that would disqualify you. And the airlines would most likely require you to do a lot of flying on your own dime to get the needed experience.

What happens if you can't be a pilot? It's something you need to be prepared for, not because it's particularly likely, but because if you pin all your hopes and dreams on being a pilot and *can't* be one, you're hosed.

Not exactly a horrible back up plan. Someone could have not made it to fighter pilot for many different reasons. It could be that they had a limited number of slots and they didn't choose him because they ran out of spots. I would recommend having another plan besides fighter or airline pilot though because both of those a pretty competitive to get into and airline pilot, as mentioned before, does usually require you to have several licenses/certificates and many many hours flown on certain types of aircraft before you are qualified and all of that is done with your own money and it is quite expensive.

Don't mean to sound like a dick but if you are letting a couple of kids discourage you from doing something then maybe you aren't cut out for the military because people are going to tell you far worse stuff. If you are going to be sensitive and let some words hurt you then you need to toughen up. Most of the time it comes with maturity and age, but even if you decide to purse a different career path you will still encounter people like that in the real world.

Being a pilot is hard to get into to. Security forces, if you breathe, walk, and shoot, we'll take you. The vast majority of SF are washouts from Pararescue and Combat Controllers. Lol

Lol ok just making sure because I have met lots of people who just told their recruiter that they wanted to be Security Forces and they got it. I actually met a guy in airborne school who had just finished OSUT (basic training/job training) and he came in as an E-4 and already had a decent stack of ribbons. I found out he was prior service from the Air Force so I asked him what he did and he said he was a TACP washout who got reclassed to Security Forces. He was an 18X which is a Special Forces candidate so he was trying to make it through selection to be a green beret. The guy was alright, but most of the time he was a dick who thought he was better than everyone else because he was prior service and had done a deployment. If he couldn't make it through Air Force SOF training not sure what made him think he would be able to do it in the Army, but whatever, he will probably wash out of selection and get reclassed to 11B and go be a regular infantry grunt.

Yeah there are a few who do want Security Forces, like me. But Security Forces is always heavily undermanned but easy to get (lowest ASVAB score for the AF, lol). But they force you to either retrain to another AFSC  or attend OTS. We have way too many NCOs.

Not sure what the Army does, but since there's the Community College of the AF which is fully accredited, we get credits for just about everything we do. Plus credits toward a CJ degree by completing SF training. But I have like 5 guys in my squadron who are TACP and CCT washouts. Although I will say this, I believe PJ training is the hardest pipeline to complete of the armed forces, with maybe an exception to the SEALs.

He may make it through though. Air Force SOF is very technical and intricate and long as hell which is why most washout. Hell, PJ training is like a little over 2 years. That's half your enlistment unless you did 6. lol!

Any washouts who are SF guys, are tools. They're the ones that bitch and moan and usually get booted.

Most of the schools you go to in the Army are connected with whatever local community college is in the area so you get credits for stuff you do. I got 27 credits towards a degree in Intelligence Operations or something like that from the local community college when I graduated from AIT. I already had a couple years of college before I enlisted so I'm pretty close to having a free Associate's degree.

it doesn't matter what type of person you are when it comes to any branch of the military. If you go threw your training and succeed in what you sighed up for, then you are good. There is a reason we wear uniforms in the military, so everyone is the same no matter what walk of life you are. I wouldn't let anyone bring you down, considering anything you do, Especially your life goals. Anyone can do anything they choose to do, as long as you meet the specific requirements, and work hard at what you choose to do. The choice is yours my friend! now its up to you on how things play out with your own life.

That's exactly what I did. I got a free Associate's degree in CJ after my tech school.

Don't let a group of people like that stop you from your dream, and just because you like anime doesn't mean you can't get the job.

-snip-  And here's a quote that I've always like: "If nobody laughs at your dreams, they aren't big enough!"

didn't Steve Jobs say that
