Back and more questions

So I'm back and giving GTA IV some time since I have some, well, time to kill lately, but since I haven't played since at least the ELS v6 days, figure I should ask some questions I already have.

1) ELS v8 is pretty and all but is there any particular reason the lights seem to flash so slowly?  Is it just the particular vehicle mod I chose as it's not v8 specifically?  (I wouldn't think so but just in case stuff has changed since my ol' days :P)

2) Still ELS related, any way to re-enable how ELS used to repair your vehicle when enabled?  It seems the general driving ability of civilians and fellow officers have not improved and thus my vehicle usually ends up a hunk of junk within the first few callouts :P

The PDF documentation unfortunately is rather largely worded and as far as I can tell doesn't cover this.

3) Any like mod-based performance changes to GTA IV in recent time?  I've got 32GB of physical memory (not that it matters on a 32-bit process I suppose) and 4GB of GPU RAM, yet I still can't play this game at max settings without hilariously silly lag issues, lockups from trying to select a high-poly vehicle or at the very worst, my poor officer is quite literally losing his manhood.

1) Are you talking about the WRNLs in specific? They were, in fact, slowed down on purpose by Caine to simulate real-life wig-wags. But then again, you can choose a faster pattern for them and set it as default. Same for PRML and SECL. Alternatively, you can go down in your ELS.ini to change this value under [MISC SETTINGS] attrb:

FlashDelay_Sp = 2

FlashDelay_Mp = 2

//PS: Lower the value if you want it faster

2) Use ELS v7 instead of v8. v8 is in no way supreme to v7, but is unique because of its features, technically speaking. Besides, you can use SNT to toggle car god mode on, or maybe use Spitfire's realistic weapon damage effect on vehicles if you're more concerned about your cruiser catching fire and don't mind the visual damage itself too much.

3) Its not your system's fault. GTA IV itself is demanding and doesn't handle mods that well. Or maybe you've installed the mod wrong which can cause problems like "losing manhood". It seems that you have installed a ped mod wrong/incomplete there.

You're welcome.

Yeah the LED flashing, they seem so slow-mo for me, the cruisers around here have theirs going at a pace that could cause an epileptic seizure, lol, admittedly I like them kind of that fast.

I'll prob switch to v7 at this point yeah, the truck I grabbed and haven't found a v8 version that looks as good looks to have been designed around v7 anyways so.

Only other mod besides LCPD and ELS would be TrafficFlow, got nothing else installed.  It mostly just seems to happen if the system is fighting for memory allocation, especially since the identical looking officers aren't bugged, just my character.  Shame there still hasn't been any real performance tweaks other than the command line things, silly console porting rockstar :(

Thanks much though, shall give v7 a try at least, maybe reduce some of the reflection/water crap in the video settings since I don't really care much about them in this event.

Hopefully you got the flashdelay value working.

As for the ped problem, I would suggest you to restore your backed up pedvariations.dat and peds.ide and if possible, your componentpeds.img too. This happened to me once when I installed Custo's cops mod and forgot to make the changes in the pedvariations.dat and peds.ide files found in common/data/.

The neatest thing I have learned recently is the console heal command to fix your car instantly.  Works great.  And avoids any trainer or policehelper crashes for me.

~ then type heal

Ah, I'll keep that in mind once I'm back on v8.

Meanwhile, anyone know is it possible to bind mouse keys to ELS?  Looks like it's primarily looking for keyboard keyid presses, but figured I'd ask just in case.

Yes, you can bind mouse buttons.

Where'd you get that list from?  The manual just skips from 000 to 008 :(

I'll give them a shot and see if they work.

It seems they skipped it in the ELS 7 manual, but the ELS 8 manual has them. They should work for any version, though, I think I even used the mouse buttons on ELS 6.

Late response but yeah they work, just very buggily for some reason.  I basically have to rapid-mash my side mouse keys (4 and 5) for them to 'register'.

Man seems like GTA IV just doesn't want to work well for me, which is funny since this system is beastly compared to my last one which never had issues :(

Anyone got a clue how to fix this particular 'bug'.

I thought it was a memory issue but I've even lowered all the video settings to medium at the very least, and even made it so I don't even have more than a single modified vehicle, yet any time I go to select it, it hangs and causes visual buggery like that screenshot.

I thought it was the particular vehicle I was using (as it was pretty high-poly it seemed) but now upon testing other ones it's still occurring unfortunately.

Am I doomed to be stuck with stock police vehicles? :(

Something screwed your copy. Reinstall is strongly recommended.

Of just LCPD:FR or the entire game?  o.O

Edit: Ah maybe I'll do a reinstall anyways, either that or re-download EFLC instead and use that, I always liked the bouncer model over the cop models when it comes to an undercover vehicle.

Couldn't agree more.
