Gta5 vehicle question's

Featured Replies

So just wondering

all these gta5 car's that are being converted to gta 4 are they gonna likely gonna be the same when gta5 comes out on pc ?

if so say if we make like police skin's  for these  gta5 converted car's out now  using the templates  as above question, think they will work ? or car's gonna be total different / have to be reconverted ?

yes I know its a wait and see game  just wondering best guesses  ,  thinking bout getting a head start / early jump on making police skin's etc on gta5 car's now ahead of time  :teehee:

Since the models are being converted to GTA 4. The GTA IV version of the GTA V models will not be combatible with GTA V unless they are converted back (which would make no sense to do so anyways). The templates that are used for the models in GTA 4 will absolutely work with the GTA V versions when it comes out on pc. (which I think was your question). The textures stay the same so the textures wont have to be re-converted, the textures are universal. Hope I helped feel free to PM me with any more questions :D

Regarding vehicle liveries/textures, as long as the modeler maps the template as closely as possible to the IV converted vehicles template you can use the same textures.

Cheers.

So if we created gta5 police skin's now using the gta5 car's out now templates, we'll likely have to redo them anyways to get them to fit the car's properly / work for gta5 when it comes out on pc ?

Either that, or someone will have to modify the GTA V cars to take templates. Rockstar does not use whole-car templates when they can avoid it; they try to do more memory-efficient ways (e.g. the IV police cars' stripe is not made with a texture, it's set to the secondary color which is set to blue; that's much more memory-efficient than using a texture), and while making a single texture covering the whole outside of the car is flexible, it's not needed for the simple designs used on GTA vehicles.

Most likely, any texture that doesn't substantially resemble the GTA V default textures will simply not work without a model edit to change texture mappings. For instance, if you want to make the Interceptor use the Stanier's markings, you'll probably need to do such an edit to make it look right (as I'd bet that there's one POLICE decal on both sides, so just replacing that would result in a seal on the front door on one side and the back door on the other).
