Alright, so I've been hearing all over YouTube that doing some state patrols can be illegal because of copyright. I would just like to know of which states are okay to record?

It's not illegal to my knowledge, however they can request to take down your video. 

 

This started because people were using real states and running people over and shooting people and they'd send it in to the department. Obviously the department wouldn't love that. Makes sense.

 

I don't understand why people like using real states. I mean, the audio yells "LCPD!". Why would you want to play as anything but Liberty City? Just change the city/state name to Liberty.

haha I know right everywhere you go you see liberty city or lcpd plastered on the police departments and not to mention the statue of happiness and times square its beyond me..I use real cars but they are lcpd based on nypd

After 5 year of doing the GTA police modding, Its a good way to keep things fresh.Also, When im on gta with all of my area`s patrol cars in game (Baltimore County), then i go out and im driving around and see the police around my area doing their thing .It makes me want to play LCPDFR even more.

 

It does not help that until i found LCPDFR and GTA PC modding.I hated gta4. I got it for Xbox 360 the day it came out.I was so excited and it was okay for a few days but then i realize that coming from San Andrea's it was lacking in many area`s.And i did not get what i was expecting with this installment of GTA. So when i started police modding i set out to make the game what it should have been all along -Awesome      Hella scripts,Cars,Guns,Units,Fixes like removing all the fat cops in game.But that`s just me.

You can use them. it's not illegal, however if it's being portrayed in a way that the department doesn't like they'll make a request for you to take down the video

If said department has logos, trademarks, insignia, etc that is copyrighted, you can not legally monetize your video. If they dont have there logos copyrighted (Im not sure if agencies do that) they cant make you take it down or sue you. Say someone makes a model or a skin, and you use it in your video and monetize it, those arent copyrighted and generally (Legally Speaking) the original creator of those have no control over it. Often times people say that you cant use these in a clan without permission, this is one of those statements that mean 100% nothing. Even if there logos are copyrighted, agencies wouldnt care enough to sue you. Its the people that send there departments videos that fuck things up. I wouldnt blame departments for not liking it, who would want someone imitating a serious agency in some little roleplaying game. 

Just put a disclaimer in your actual video or description that says "the cities, counties, and police departments represented in this video, while they may resemble actual departments, are purely fictional and for computer game entertainment purposes only". Maybe not those exact words but something along those lines.
