Need For Speed World

"Need for Speed World is the FREE to play online racing game where you decide how to play in a massively multiplayer world. Connect with friends or race against the world as you rise through the rankings. Race the very latest cars or relive classic NFS moments with the ever-expanding car list. Stamp your identity on the cars with an endless combination of paints and liveries"

Need for speed world grabs the maps of NFS Most wanted, Carbon and (soon) Undercover and combines them into a massive playable area.

------------------------

I've been playing this game since the closed beta back last year and I still love it, there's things to suit everybody like;

  • Free Roam by yourself or others
  • The old Pursuit system from Most Wanted is back
  • Sprints
  • Circuits
  • Photo areas
  • Spot the devs (Win a epic car, rare contest)
  • Visit the golf course from most wanted, its now covered in snow and has ski ramps! :D
  • Daily Treasure Hunt

So that's the basics, I'll explain the basis of each event

Pursuits

Before a recent update, AI Cop cars sprawled the roads in free roam, all you had to do was ram them in order to initiate a pursuit. This was proven to be a pain in the arse as the AI can be very buggy in a open lobby. Therefore it now has its own event, simply join one from the ingame map and you'll be put into a singleplayer version of World with the cops behind you. Five heat levels are present and each have their own difficulty:

Level 1 - Local

Marked Dodge Chargers fairly easy to destroy

Level 2 - County

Marked Dodge Chargers and some sort of matte black police car (Unlicensed)

Level 3 - State

Undercover Dodge Charger Superbee, Undercover black police car, Light Rhino SUV (Charges you head on)

Road Blocks formed of one rhino, 3 dodge chargers

Level 4 - State Tactical Forces

Undercover Cruiser, Heavy Rhino SUV

Spike Strips

More Rhinos charge you head on

Road Blocks formed of Rhinos

Level 5 - Federal

Corvette Z06 Marked Cruiser + All of the above

The other events are pretty self explanatory like Sprint and Circuit

Team Escape

You and three other players are tasked with driving to a set point within a certain amount of time while trying to avoid being busted by the cops. For instance, the objective could be 40,000 ft away and you need to get there in four minutes.

This game can be a great way to pass the time, it features some great maps from battlefield 2 like Gulf of Oman and Back to Karkland.

Although, in order to have any decent chance of competing, you need to spend real cash on good guns. The controls are awful and a joystick is not officially supported.

Even though there are things that you do have to pay for, such as special tanks or ammo, for a large part, the game is free, it's called World of Tanks. It mostly focuses on tanks that were in service during WWII, though there are a very small handful of post war tanks too, such as the the Chinese Type 59 (the only Chinese tank in the game, the rest are part of an "American" "German" or "Soviet" tech tree, with plans to introduce a French Tech Tree in the next update, and eventually a Japanese and general European (which includes tanks from Poland, Czechoslovakia, Sweden, Romania, etc.)

ABP Reloaded, also known as All Point Bulletin, the game was pay to play at first, as well as to obtain. When the developer went bust, the game was bought out with the hopes of making it Free to Play. Now the game is Free to Play and like Team Fortress 2, can be obtained for free via Steam. Best way I can describe this is likely City of Heros/Villans meets LCPDFR/GTAIV.
