its kinda hard to tell exactly from that photo, but my guess would be like a semi-dark blue or lighter navy blue. see its not quite dark enough to really be called a midnight or dark blue in opinion.

that is a really nice policy. im gonna have to check on that here.  if not remind me to move to Nova Scotia XD

Your from Ontario or BC?

  • What about this? I think I'd need more then a weekend to do it.

Any kind of lights are legal to have in the province of Nova Scotia, red/blue green, purple, white, amber, all legal to have, just can't be flashed on a public roadway, I can flash them all I want in a private parking lot, I asked a cop what he thought about it & he said it doesn't bother him, only thing I was worried about when having the TIR3's mounted on the license plate was it hiding my license plate tag, but they don't hassle me, cops know how many lights I have, because I told them, when enquiring about them, was also told I can legally replicate an official police vehicle without it being official, if it's just for show.

Nice.

Thnx for the clarification

That makes it really tempting to move there :P

Either way, nice car you got!

US actually, most states are very strict about emergency lights and sirens.  but iv never actually inquired about loop-holes (such as show cars) so to speak.

I just have lights, you don't even know I have them when I'm driving down the road, you see it quite a bit out here, I saw another blacked out ex cop car today with grille LEDs & a charger a few months ago with ION's in the grille, as long as they aren't on, shouldn't be a problem cops here aren't paranoid that people are going to get them lol

She sure is a beut. Nice lights, is there any local emergency equipment vendors around NS? I've been trying to see if I can find a siren system and/or some lights around here.

Looks very nice slim jim, the outcome is sweet! It does kinda look like midnight blue. I had a 2002 CV, but I damaged it badly it in an accident, I was too lazy to fix it (mainly because it had some problems with the engine and made weird squeaking noises and constantly stopped working in the middle of the road, it caused someone to rear-end me pretty hard and made me smack into a guard rail, totaling it) so I just sold it to a scrap yard :P

I'm sorry to hear that, man. I hope the person who got you into the accident at least had the decency to offer payment for the repairs.

After all, even though your engine stopped working, the person who rammed you is responsible for the damages, due to their careless driving.

nice that you can do that without the local gov being a pain about it. also, you might want to look into tinted emergency lights. its a nice effect that you can easily do yourself.

Yeah, there are 2 that I know of Fredericton Police gets their lights installed at the one I usually go too, whereabouts in New Brunswick are you?

I'm not sure the laws in NB about lights, so I'd check either City Police where you are or RCMP, & ask a local towing company where they get theirs,

What kind of lights are you looking for? feel free to send me a PM.

I can ask my father about the laws regarding lighting, he is a constable with the RCMP. I'm not really sure what kind of lighting/siren systems I'd be looking into. Any place in the maritimes is fine, I don't mind where its at. As my car is currently screwed, it'd be a little bit before I will be getting another one. I tried finding some on Kijiji, but I didn't come up with anything. I wouldn't mind travelling to the shop.

Well there ya go lol pretty much anything you want can be found at these shops, try Crown Assets, it's an auction site/place, you can get newer CVPI's or pretty much anything the Police have used, or anything that has been seized for dirt cheap, I saw a 2010 CVPI for $900.00 a month or so ago, if you are able to find yourself some wheels, I'd be more then happy to meet you halfway, & you could follow me to Scotia Emergency, google it up, it's in Halifax on Old Sambro Rd, their site isn't much, it just redirects you Manufacturers, but they're there.

Thanks for telling me. It'll be a while before I'll be able to get anything. Still trying to figure out what I'm going to be driving, and how my budget will be. Hopefully soon I'll go to a government auction to see what they have there. Around the coastal area where I am everything is so damn rusty, so I might go up and see if I can get a cheap CVPI. Not sure if that's what I'll be driving or not. Thanks for your help!

What's wrong with the car you have now? Yeah, road salt is the worst, which is why mine is undercoated every season & mine will never see salt again, whenever your ready, let me know, i'll see what I can do for you, I have a power supply that can power 6 strobes & I have a bunch of strobes left over.

I don't need any lights for a long time. The quarter ton truck I have now has been wrecked by somebody being stupid in it. I'm not even sure what I'll be getting.

No offense but it pisses me off when people buy retired vics...It has that wannabe cop look :/

Meh, I don't care that police auctioned cars are put back on the road, it's just when they get "dressed up" I start raising eyebrows.

Both your eyebrows raised?

I can understand just driving a CVPI with nothing on it, but I'll personally never understand why you'd want to dress it up with lights and make people think you're a cop.

It's just my opinion though. If I saw that car, I'd think it's a cop. When the lights are turned off, you can't tell that they're amber. People may see you if they're in need of help and flag you down, I would find it annoying and embarrassing.

Plus in the U.S., you'd get a lot of crap for driving with police equipment, even in a Honda Accord. Around here, you'd get pulled over every day.  I guess things are different where you are, around here you'd never see that.

I love your car, just be careful where you park. People can be jerks and they'll key it if they think it's a cruiser. My Dad's old blue 1998 Crown Victoria got keyed several times, and it was just an LX. It was an ex Russian Embassy car, it was a beauty. We now have a black 2003 LX Sport. They're great cars. Personally, someday I'd like to own a Mercury Marauder, but they're getting somewhat rare.

I have already explained why I put lights in it, people really don't pay any attention to it now that it's not white, but isn't human nature to stop when someone needs help? people buy them for the wrong reasons, I've never thought of being a jack ass or doing things I shouldn't be doing, I don't around with them on, & people don't know that I have them unless I tell them, I also have a kill switch inside the car for when I'm driving, I'm a grown man, not an irresponsible teenager, that being said, I don't NEED to justify myself to anyone either,  you don't have to be an irresponsible teenager to install something in your car that you enjoy having just for looks, I went through the right channels to ensure I was able to have them without assuming, I don't give the cops a reason to bother me, things are not like the U.S where cops are Nazi's & will pull you over for pretty much anything, things are much different, & the lights, are not illegal by any means.

Relax, I understand where you're coming from. And yeah, cops are more strict in the U.S. It's your car, it's your hobby, enjoy it.
