1 Year Ago Today: Boston Marathon

Featured Replies

On April 15, 2013, two pressure cooker bombs exploded during the Boston Marathon at 2:49 pm EDT, killing 3 people and injuring an estimated 264 others. The bombs exploded about 12 seconds and 210 yards (190 m) apart, near the finish line on Boylston Street.

Three spectators were killed in the bombings: Krystle Marie Campbell, 29, a restaurant manager from Medford, Massachusetts; Lu Lingzi (Chinese吕令子), 23, a Chinese national and Boston University graduate student from Shenyang, Liaoning; and Martin William Richard, an eight-year-old boy from the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, who was killed by the second bomb.

On April 18 at about 10:48 pm, Sean A. Collier, 27, an MIT police officer (formerly with the Somerville Auxiliary Police Department from 2006 to 2009 ofWilmington, Massachusetts, living in Somerville, Massachusetts, was ambushed in his police car and died from multiple gunshot wounds allegedly from the bombing suspects.

I happen to live in Boston, and this really hits home to me because they attacked my home city. Those assholes took the lives of 4 people and injured 250 more.

I'm glad justice will be brought (And has been) brought to the brothers. A horrific event, in such a good city, at such a nice event, and yet, incredibly awful to see part martial law instituted on American soil.

I hope all involved will be brought to justice.

Knew I would see this thread come up. I hate it when the news blows stuff up like this, especially when 9/11 comes around. They make such a big deal about it every year for 9/11 and I am sure they will be doing the same for the bombing for many years to come. Yes, they were both tragic events, but I would hate to have a close friend or family member be killed in one of these events and be reminded about it every year for many years to come. I would just want to forget about it but the news makes such a big deal out of it every year. Most people just want to forget about it. Wish I could word it better so I can explain more but oh well.

Not trying to say anything negative about the people affected by it and hope they're doing better.

I am also glad that justice was brought! Although the arrest was a bit....I don't know.....but I am sure it had something to do with Obama. (not sarcasm)

wow, its been a year already? I remember the morning it happened I was drinking coffee and browsing the downloads while watching the news. I'm pretty sure I made the first thread about it, a bunch followed but were all soon merged.

Time really flies.

We would like to grieve and remember those who lost their lives because of someone else's radical beliefs actions and you come here trying to pin the blame onto the government saying "the citizens of Boston were terrorized by the militarized police"?

Innocent people died and you're brainwashed into thinking this whole thing is a plot by the government or some bullshit? You sicken me.

I know, that's why I said I hope all of those responsible (more than just the 2 boys) are brought to justice.

Or we'll see it happen again. Like 9/11, Vietnam, and countless other conflicts staged to justify a unpopular public opinion. Not saying GVT is behind Boston Bombings, let's not jump to conclusions, but let's just say they know a little more than they're telling.

I don't understand why people would want to remember tragic events like this.

I can't believe it's already been a year! Time fly's by quick!

''A quiet man, is a thinking man. A quiet woman, is usually mad.''

Respect and moment of silence to all those who lost their lives.

No offense but no need to bring such tragic events every year on forums, all it does is bring more sadness and disappointment to everyone and doesn't help people to move on. Remembering and honoring the victims is  a different thing but bringing it up on forums every year?- I don't agree.

What stands out the most to me is before the dust even cleared there were police officers running in, I will never forget seeing that.
