Can't edit files

Featured Replies

First of all, make sure your logged into a Administrative user account on Windows. Then:-

Either make sure you're running Notepad (or whatever you're using to open it) in Admin mode (by right-clicking > Run as Admin), or

Right-click pedgrp.dat > click "Properties" > Security Tab > click "Edit" > in the 1st box, select your current (Windows) user account > then in 2nd box, check the box "Full Control" > Apply > Ok,    After doing that, click on General Tab > uncheck "Read-only" box.

Now edit pedgrp.dat, & you should be able to save without any problems.

If you want to revert it, follow the steps, but in the 2nd box, uncheck the box "Write", this will uncheck All boxes except "Read & Execute", "List folder contents", & "Read" (which cannot be checked/unchecked, otherwise you wouldn't be able to use the file).
