agressive driving

Noticed lately the Police in the BETA version is very very aggressive in driving. They don't mind who they hit, they just do. Also they're ramming the suspect like It's a derby. Kinda unrealistic in my opinion.

It would be better if they just drove behind the suspect all time like a chase and don't hit them all the time. Maybe they should block him in when he stops for instance, but not let them hit. Is that gonna be fixed in a next version, or will that remain that way?

Just a guess but I would think the way they respond /drive is hardwired into the AI and at best tweaking is all you can do.

That said the devs of LCPDFR must have some degree of control as there was a huge improvement in that department with the latest version.

Agreed though they are still far too aggressive and cause problems.

[EDIT:Sorry for spelling failure on the title.Supposed to be: ''Aggressive'' ofc.]

Press edit, then go to use full editor. Edit title. Done.

@Thread

I'm sure the developers will find a way to reduce the aggressiveness, somehow. Maybe just alter the speed they like to drive at? Could be a temporary workaround perhaps. Who knows.

Thank you. Topic name fixed.

ONtopic: They way you're saying it makes it sound a lot easier to fix issues like the aggressive driving. Maybe with some more options and it'll be solved.

I say amp it up more! The cops need to DESTROY the enemies of the united states (and that includes local litter bugs) :P hehe but also on a serious note, I think its fine the way it is tbh... I think the mod needs more improvement on the older features being implemented with the new. Such as a previous thread mentioneding 0.90 and the suspect going to the car, you open the door and seat them in before taking to a police station, I thought that would be pretty cool...

*To add: Also is there a way to 'detain' a suspect? such as those people just sitting in parking lots in their cars or whatever that might seem suspicious, and you 'pull them over' tell them to get out, arrest them, search the car *BOOM found drugs* - upload to evidence :P - then take 'em to jail, =OR= search the car *finds nothing*, release suspect.

Just a thought.... back on topic... yeah I stick with my answer above. stay same or MORE aggressiveness :P

Seems like you guys go less for hardcore role playing and love to fuck his car up like a derby. :P

In my opinion I go for hardcore single man's role playing. I love realism. Real life P.I.T.'s with needed permission etc. All makes more sense to me. No offence for you guys. ;D

Hey, if they're dumb enough to try to run through my car....I'll take the free arrest thanks. I've noticed that US cops do tend to make contact with a suspect's vehicle more than European cops. Then again their cars are built like tanks so they can withstand more punishment. As for the derby comment, plenty of criminals have slammed into cops in a derby style.

Then again I'm somewhere between the two, I'm like you, but a shade more of a cowboy cop. It's how i am, I tend to beat up on the suspects and use that as a way of getting intel, then make sure they're keeping quiet. Way I see it LC's corrupt, why not fit in?

Yesyes I see what you mean. So it appears, some like it heavy RPing, and some don't mind the smashing at all.

Maybe a special activate-able mode like: Heavy RP / Cowboy style would be nice. Don't take the names I quickly made for it seriously. It's just an example.

Hardcore mode is a mode for players looking for a very challenging experience. Bullets take massive damage, headshots of any type WILL kill you instantly, some blips for pursuits won't show up (so if you lose visual, chances are you won't find your suspect again), and other things like that. Hardcore doesn't (I believe) affect how the AI drive to any significant extent.

Same...

I like to go on the odd rampage don't get me wrong, but when I do want to rampage I play gta IV, which is geared up for that experience and gives a challenge with cops helicopters etc all after you.

I play LCPDFR for something different. It's still a stress reliever and gameplay fun but it involves a bit more than normal GTA IV. In LCPDFR you need your car, your gun, and your brain.

LCPDFR....The thinking mans GTA IV :p

You won't get a 180 on the actual driver AI in this game, sorry. Maybe small improvements if they can find a way to have the AI cars get a better pinpoint on exactly where the suspect vehicle is, rather than a general area (they usually hit me as a result unless I get out of the way). I'm only truly frustrated when I get out of my car and they come careening down the street and pin me against a car/tree/wall, etc.

Know what you mean about the AI, was doing a chase yesterday, was attempting to PIT maneuver the suspect over on Union Drive West, and right when I got set up, an AI car comes out of nowhere and rams him from the back, thus screwing up any chance of ending this within the Liberty State Lines, ended up with him getting boxed in (after getting him PIT'd into a wall) on the Plumbers Skyway in Alderney.

Not too much of a nuisance though as much as the AI becoming trigger happy after you Frisk a ped and find something on them, or an attacking ped has been immobilized though. It seems like things had been pretty well fixed up between the Beta and RC1 in the respects of how the AI behaves in chases.

While the AI sometimes are a bit too aggressive, they are a big help now, in that they can box in a car without ramming it until the suspect vehicle breaks down/catches on fire. I've had a few pursuits where I lose visual (due to the suspect pulling away as I attempt to take him out), but the AI keep up and manage to have the suspect arrested cleanly by the time I arrive. For now, I think the AI are nearly the best they can be in terms of manipulating the AI driving behavior code.
