adding notes in police computer

Featured Replies

wouldnt it be a cool idea perhaps if we could add notes to the cars we pull over and if some how it was linked to lcpdfr and we can see what others wrote as well, just to make it more realistic haha

  • A web based MDC system, tied into LCPDFR Online Services, the LCPDFR police computer and mod itself, might be coming soon. :)

It would be realistic, but what's the point? There's really no point to it. It slows down the procedure for a traffic stop, thus making it more of a difficult task to do, and basing it on reality isn't always a good thing. Traffic stops in the real world take 10-20 minutes minimum. In GTA they take close to 1 minute and 30 seconds - and that's for a reason, you know. As I just mentioned, it'd slow down the traffic stop procedure and it would make the game substantially more boring due to the fact you actually have to take full notes. If we're talking filling in fields on the police computer about the make, year, and color of the car (as well as its license plate possibly), that'd be a better alternative, however, we'd need some sort of way of telling the player the model and make of the car. Most of us who have been playing for a while know most of the models, and possibly makes, but the year is actually unsaid within the game itself, but I'm guessing most of the vehicles range from 1970 - 2001. Nothing newer than that. After all, this is meant to bring out the bad side of NY (kind of).

Although your idea is an interesting and a very creative one, it'd be hard to implement, and with additions also come bugs, which means a longer testing phase. The staff have just released 1.0, so the likelihood of them releasing a new version is very low. Also, on top of the note taking method, we'd need to actually have a way of finding out what make of car, model of car, and the year make of the car we are pulling over - which means yet more bugs, an even longer testing phase and more people disagreeing with this implementation. It's a good idea, but it probably won't make it.

SCNG FTW!!

I honestly don't think it's possible since for a license plate they're all the same (LIBERTY CITY), the peds get randomized and the same with the car colour, so the information in the MDC, most likely be completely different to what you're looking at.

plus it'll be a long time since you'll have to be filling out notes, reading them. When a traffic stop takes 5 minutes max, if this was added.. the time a traffic stop takes would be increased.

Well look at the ALPR script. It automatically generates random plate numbers, but it doesn't change the appearance which nobody really cares about anyway.

Based off of what Couth said, I think it'd be cool if either:

a. Someone made a mod that changed the texture of the plate randomly

or

b. LCPDFR gave you a license plate number when you stopped someone.

You could then proceed to copy down the plate in said notes in the computer, so if you ever came across it again, you would be able to check. Good idea, rkb. :)

Fixed a word.

Your version does sound simpler, but probably doesn't have much of a better chance than the original's chance of implementation

That could work. But maybe with not so many license plates.

The names in LCPD:FR had a lot so the chance of getting the same name twice was a big fat zero chance. so maybe having the chance plate come up every now and then could work.

This mod is supposed to represent realism. A real life traffic stop doesn't take a min to do unlike in LCPDFR. It takes a little bit of time to do a traffic stop in real life. I think this is a great idea and i have no issues with it

Not trying to advertise, but I created a system called the MPRS (Mobile Police Reporting System) for my LCPDFR Community WSPRP.

We have had great success with it, everyone seems to love it, and really enjoys the realism it adds to the game. We have a web portal that shows each person's individual stats and you can edit your reports, as well as each division's stats and we make weekly competitions out of it :)

Guess it just depends on what type of player you are, if you are looking for realism it really adds to the game.

I haven't posted this in the WIP mods yet, but, I will also be creating a public version, and a public web portal to manage and view all your reports. This will allow anyone playing LCPDFR to file a report in game, and review it later on the web portal, as well as see how everyone else is doing and what kinda of things they are running into :) I hope this will create a new and unique way to connect with one another. Look for it soon only on LCPDFR, I will make a WIP post very soon.

Not available yet to the public, only for my Community/Clan right now.

Will post a forum topic when Public Version is ready. I most likely will only make it available able on LCPDFR, so you guys will be the first to know.

it's meant to represent realism yes.. But don't forget it's just a game. Most people don't want to sit around for 10-20 minutes writing notes for the MDC with little to no reward. Most people would get bored with it.

If people wanted to do everything exact then they'll go out and join the police force. LCPD:FR is a mod for a game, it's meant to be played for fun with a bit of realism. it'll be a feature that will get people really bored really quick

There could be a option to turn that feature on or off maybe

Good to hear! I have about 8 years of web development history so my system will function and look a lot better than the MDC. :P

It IS nice, and really adds to the roleplays we have.

I can attest to the above statement, for those hardcore roleplayers like found in our clan every step closer to reality is celebrated. This script adds just that, realism, fun and excitement.
