Too many cops

Featured Replies

Hello,

is ist just for me or for everyone that there are too many cops. When I got a mugging callout there are always 5 or more cars responding with me. I think it is unrealistic. Is there a line in the .ini to lower the amount of cops?

Yes, if you read the manual you can find out what lines to edit in the ini. Or just read on here...

[Pursuits]
AllowRoadblocks=True
ForceAnnihilatorHelicopter=False
MaximumCopCarsInPursuit=5
MaximumCopsInPursuit=20

Change those to something more of your liking :)

I changed these lines but there are more cops than my settings in a pursuit...

Lol, after reinstalling LCPDFR on some streets there are trains and in Alderny there are car washes around some houses.

Well, there still will be more cars than that depending on various factors

1. If there are several pursuits in progress

2. If there are units near-by, they will join the pursuit regardless of the settings

About the second thing: That is a sign that your save games are corrupted, you need to delete them.

Ok, thanks Inseri :)

I personally set mine on maximum 4 cop cars in a chase (assuming i'm the 5th, might set it to 3) And 8 maximum ped cops. I once had like 20 aim at a guy lol

I also noticed that even after i set MaximumCopCarsInPursuit=3, there are still as many cop cars in pursuits as with the default setting (5). It don't seem to make a difference.

True but there is apparently a reason for this.

The first is a ineseri said above, units in the local area will join the pursuit regardless of the setting.

The second is a point made by Sam, the suspects within the vehicle themselves are the pursuits not the car, so there will be 2 cop cars spawned into the pursuit for one suspect, 4 for 2 suspects etc etc.

It is a silly method when you think that a car with 4 suspects in it will have 8 cruisers giving chase plus random units, but the reason as Sam stated was that this allows each of the suspects in the car to be handled separately when they choose to flee from the car for whatever reason. That way you don't end up with a pursuit where only 1 suspect ever gets arrested and the others are ignored by the AI. they all get dealt with.

I would recommend using similar settings as mine.

maximum cars = 2 (this means 2 cars, plus you, plus random joiners)

maximum cops = 6 (2 for each car, plus 2 extra on foot, then any that join randomly)

I would also suggest using the less cops mod to reduce the number of police spawned in general (that way you get less random joiners to the pursuit)
