Ghetto's in France *VIDEO*

You just don't hear about mobs of Christians running amok, rioting and  murdering Muslims in cold blood.  Sorry if that offends, but it's true.

Obviously, you aren't exactly aware of what's currently happening in the Central African Republic.

@gangrenn: The Gendarmerie Nationale is a military agency and will always be regarded as such. Moreover it provides policing for about half of the population of the country and its jurisdiction isn't only limited to the countryside and the coastal areas, and can occasionnally be seen patrolling within city limits.

  • Probably the huge Muslim population causing issue, just like England is experiencing.     Anyhow, I always figured they were a bunch of wine drinking, bread eating pussies.  Got to be the immigrants

If the gendarmerie has jurisdiction in cities if needed, is the reverse true for the police (jurisdiction outside cities if needed)?

Problem isn't about being military or not, problem is "Police nationale" should get the same equipment, and the same legal support as Gendarmerie (or Douane) have. Only the police have jurisdiction for patrolling in the city (and by city, i mean  downtown, or inside districts for Paris & Marseille), Gendarmerie when acting in the city, have jurisdiction around the city (Like you said), but we are talking about the very downtown, of the cities (where the real problem is). Police might want to do something, but if they do, they will get sanctioned, which is the problem, if we want to reduce criminality, we need to let them do their job.

For example: they are not "allowed" to engage pursuit if a bike flees, to avoid accident, or worst, so now, people who are using bikes are making fun of them ... which is not normal !

again, consequences are not the same for a Gendarme who draw his weapons, and a police officer who draw his weapons ;

No Police, only have jurisdiction inside the cities or sometimes in highway, but not outside.

It can get confusing, sometimes, because earlier i said gendarme have jurisdiction on highways, now i'm saying Police have jurisdiction too, but it is how it is ...

Gendarmes can be deployed anywhere on the territory if necessary because like I said, the Gendarmerie is a military branch, thus including cities. But most of the time they let the police do their job. The whole system is very complex and even we, Frenchies, sometimes get confused.

Any update from those of you living in France? Has the crime slowed or is it still heavily out of control?
