GTA IV Completely Freezes my Computer.

Featured Replies

When I play GTA IV it will completely freeze my computer. I have these mods installed: First Person, DAS, LCPDFR, ELS, PoliceHelper, TowHelper, K9 Script, ALPR, PSS and my clans vehicles and peds. Every time it freezes the computer is very slow. Could it be a virus, too many scripts? Any help will be great!

I would say remove all mods, and then install them one by one to find the culprit.

Yeah, your GPU specs. What kind of graphics card are you using?

It's your card I would say, it's not powerful enough to run GTA IV. But, to circumvent a less powerful computer, and maybe get the game up and running, create a txt file called “commandline.txt” (without quotes) in your main GTA IV installation directory and insert the following lines:

-renderquality 0 -shadowdensity 0 -texturequality 0 -viewdistance 0 -detailquality 0 -novblank -norestrictions -percentvidmem 100 -minspecaudio -novsync -renderquality 0 -frameLimit 0 -nomemrestrict

there, hopefully that works, thanks

oh btw my dad has Flight Simulator 2004 on this computer with many texture add-ons and weather add-ons and that works perfectly.

But FS2004 is not near the demands that GTA4 has. If someone tried to install it on a NASA computer, it would work without lag, on a normal PC it can have FPS drops that goes from 10-100 in drops.
