HA HA my evil plan worked. I have split the community into two its only a matter of time before the East and West Declare war on each other. HA HA HA!!!!

But on a serious note its nice to be able to have a acutal nice debate on here once with out it turning into "you're mom is so fat she "insert mildly insulting joke here" Jokes

Well, the fact that Tom H had to attack my personal life really isn't what I call a peaceful debate.. especially since I had to take that argument away from here....

Fair game when you do the same.

But I honestly would have to agree with Tom. Can't stop a group of people because of what one did.

I don't recall doing that to anyone, so no, it's not fair game.

A lot of controversy around them indeed, its not just one, there are lots of video of them trying to infringe on peoples rights, make up laws that don't exist as well as policies.

Oh boy, I am gonna go get me some popcorn for this lovely discussion.

As said, the TSA is not a sworn department. Either give money to local airport police to allow them to beef up more security or get a new department going that is tasked with protecting all american airports. Great idea to have it under CBP, they already protect the borders and are more than qualified.

Well at Ports of Entry all CBP Officers are armed so I don't think TSA officers at international airports would need any firearms, plus most major airports have their own police departments with officers that have firearms. In my opinion though, guns should only be issued to TSA officers with training. A good alternative to issuing them guns would be tasers.

Take the personal stuff to PM. That was the right instinct on Slimory's part.

On topic:

The TSA has employees who are armed: the Federal Air Marshals Service is under the TSA. Note the differences: FAMS marshals are considered federal law enforcement, go through training with other federal law enforcement, have powers of arrest, and are a last line of defense. Also, in the air, protecting a plane is something that falls under pretty much entirely federal jurisdiction (if a local LEO is flying armed in the line of duty, they'd presumably be able to act to protect the aircraft, but it's not part of their normal responsibility). On the ground, there's no reason we need to have TSA armed. Airports have police forces. If they want, they can put a police stand at the security station; I've seen that at a few airports. But screeners do not have to intervene when it's dangerous - they can always call airport police.

If I recall correctly, Slimory himself brought in his own profession. all I did was expand and comment upon that

It's a POLL not a debate.. & i'm not going to argue in this topic

EDIT: What is with all the butt hurt? I stated my opinion, leave it at that.

I'm not butthurt at all, i'm just stating my points and countering yours. There is no argument here.

I think increased police presents should do the job. Plus there 'should' be air marshals on every US flight so there should have been a few waiting in line some where that could have pitched in.

The TSA already have enough on their plate and enough problems. They don't need more TSA guys screwing up especially with a weapon.......

Exactly, to discuss things, not be a complete jack ass & prove a point that doesn't need to be proven..

We have a difference in opinion & you're just being an antagonizer & all you're doing is pissing me off.... I'm trying VERY hard to be nice & express why I don't care about an irrelevant point you're trying to make but you're making it difficult to do so.

I stated my opinion & the facts that I have about them, which isn't much, but I do know some & that's enough to go on..  We have a difference in opinion, doesn't make mine or yours right, hence the reason its an OPINION..

Now I think I'm done.

This is where I see Tom coming from, you started your first post with "Fuck that! there are WAY too many issues with firearms as  it is" Bringing up a entirely different topic and kind of insulting Americans in your post too. That is why I think you got the backlash you did.

Just clearing things up. Do I agree with it? No just pointing it so don't get mad at me or anything just pointing something out that I think was missed.

Your choice of grammar and immature attitude just proves that the above statement is probably the best you've given in a long time.

I'm glad that someone sees my perspective. You have a nice day now :)

No, the TSA is hardly seen as better than mall cops(with the training to go with it) that armed baggage checkers is a bad idea.

At that, pretty much any large® airport will have it's own police protection, usually in house.

Besides, their already is an armed element to the TSA, look up VIPR teams and Federal Air Marshals.
