Sources? Links? I have not heard anything about this.

EDIT: And if she was indeed in a vehicle and refusing to stop, I believe the vehicle is called a weapon.

http://autos.aol.com/article/grandmother-dead--leading-police-on-high-speed-chase/?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000058& here is the issue she didnt have a weapon and she didnt even use her car as a weapon so she was unarmed and the cops shot her that is a HUGE problem

Edited by gamerdanger99

now this is a little crazy she was not even armed she didnt even try to mow down cops and she was shot dead. This was uncalled for. The police had NO REASON TO SHOOT HER!!!!!

I didn't see where it said if she was armed or not. All I see is that it ended in gunfire

if cops shoot someone dead they will always say if the suspect was armed also what old lady brings a gun with her?

At the moment, we know basically nothing about this. There's nothing to suggest she was or wasn't armed, and the article didn't say what was happening when the officers fired shots. Not every instance of police shooting a suspect is unjustified; even if the suspect is unarmed, it can still be justified (e.g. suddenly go for a bulge in your clothes when cops have drawn on you? That's probably a justified shooting.)

actually a lot of old ladies have carry guns here including my grandmother

i know that im just saying its very rare to see a old lady with a gun

Plenty of old ladies carry guns. Your experience is not even CLOSE to authoritative. The old ladies you know are a very non-representative sample, because they presumably travel in similar social circles and live in similar areas. It is almost never correct to say "I know many people of type X, and they don't do thing Y, so very few Xers do Y". The ONLY time that's valid is if a) you know a substantial portion of people of type X (you don't), or b) when you say you "know", you're really talking about a random sample. With a truly random sample, you can go from small numbers to the population; you, sadly, don't have a random sample.

And old ladies can carry guns for the same reason anyone else would.

Says who?

An except from the NH Union Leader paper:

"On Monday night, residents said Manchester police told them that state police had been pursuing the car from Bow. The driver had exited Interstate 93 at 9S, weaved through neighborhoods and rammed a state police cruiser that pulled in front of her, according to accounts neighbors relayed from police."

Whether that's true or not, I don't know. Striking a cop car is considered assault on a police officer and can be met with deadly force. If she endangered a motorist or a pedestrian to the point where it was life threatening, that's also a justified reason to take someone out. I'm surprised you're so against the police when you're registered on a forum like this. It's almost as if you signed up here to troll...

why did this turn into a gun argument??????????????????????  they shot her because she was ramming into cruisers and (Was backing up to ram again) at the time when the officers were out of their vehicles to attempt to PEACEFULLY stop the pursuit.. if you were a cop in the middle of a police chase and the car your chasing rams your vehicle,  you get out and the car tries to ram you as well, what the hell would you do in that situation?? if its anything other than defend yourself your lying.. what would you be more sad over hearing that a granny died in a police chase or hearing that a police officer was run over and killed in a chase. officers need to do whatever's necessary to make sure they get home after that shift and get back to their families and their kids  it is unfortunate that its a grandmother who died as she was put in a shitty situation with her condition (though anxiety is controllable so it kinda IS her fault) but lets be honest if it was some lowlife scumbag criminal who got capped no one would bat a damn eye.. but guess what that lowlife scumbag criminal is a human being.. so I don't see why we should cry over this and NOT cry over people who run from the cops and die every year..  personally I don't care that she died she shouldn't have ran, she should have taken her damn medicine, and stopped acting like a lunatic crashing into police cars..

She's not a little old lady grandmother either, by the way. She's only 45. Her daughter probably had a kid at a young age. It's a very small town, located in the middle of a bunch of woods and farmland, like many towns in New Hampshire. This also means that often the kids (and also some adults) get into trouble there frequently because there's nothing to do, so people turn to drugs, alcohol and petty theft. I lived in New Hampshire for 19 years. I was in a different county, but I'm very familiar with that state and its citizens.

And gamerdanger99, do the police the same service by not posting anything without facts.

I agree with this dude

I am trained in Pursuit, The police did nothing wrong. When this "grandma" took off from the troopers, she was an instant threat. She could have killed several pedestrians or motorists. I believe the police did nothing wrong they will eliminate that lady at all costs before she can take innocent peoples lives. Age doesn't matter, she could be 75 I don't give a crap, I fear for safety of innocent people, not granny a- wipe over there. Honestly if you are going to make a belligerent statement, do not do it.

Just because you don't see an old lady strapped with a .45 to her hip doesn't mean little old women don't pack heat. Lots of women carry in their purses or satchels. Plus, it doesn't say what she did to provoke the officers. It says here that she "had a lengthy arrest record, including assault, drunk driving, marijuana possession, and violating of a restraining order". It is safe to say she could have tried to assault the officers.

exactly. I've had women pull weapons out of wigs, purses, and bras. Hardly ever had one on the hip in the holster.

I see that you are still young and don't understand law enforcement. If you become an officer when you get older you will probably understand more. Believe me it changed me too.
