Most people would have just willingly given up any of the information the officer asked for, then it would have gone into a police report, as does every callout, and then that would be on their record somewhere. It is just nice to be able to keep yourself out of situations like that!

Yeah the guy who made this video is an asshole, he deliberately draws attention to himself so people call the police, then jumps into legal technicalities that he has just spent the last few days researching. The officer isn't there to infringe on his rights or be a dick, he's simply there to sort out what's going on and respond to the concerns of citizens. It isn't the police officer's fault that the state has fucked up carrying laws, and if the guy is doing this is protesting against those laws he is going the wrong way about it.

Why you need to post an thread about this for Why?

My apologies for the confusion. I have fixed the original video.

But my view on it, is that our officers of the law should know what they can or cannot do. I mean, are you telling me that everyone at that precint, or even his supervisor did not know that it was unlawful to detain him? If our officers don't know the law they are enforcing, do we feel safe?

It really makes 0 sense to be able to open carry in the U.S, what does anyone need a gun for? I don't have one, what makes 0 sense is, people know open carry is legal and STILL call the police because it poses a threat, yet if a police officer stops you to find out whats going on, he can't do anything about it, whats the point? I think the American open carry law needs to re-written... nobody needs a firearm unless in a position of authority or emergency personnel.

So when someone breaks into my house and kills my sister for her jewelry in the middle of the night, I shouldn't be allowed to have a firearm to kill him because I am not in a position of authority, nor am I emergency personel.

Go to a gun shop and tell the gun shop clerk it's for self defence.. I dare you..

Your "right to bare arms" law shouldn't exist.. nobody knows what you're intent on using that firearm is for, which makes a cops job more difficult cause they can't do anything when they are trying to clean up the streets, once you buy a gun be prepared to face the consequences if you ever use it, I've never even fired a gun, why would I need to? I can fight and i'm sure I could hit the intruder with something and not kill anyone. there are many ways of handling a situation like that a gun is not one of them, period

You obviously did not understand what I was trying to say. If someone hurts my family, I am more than happy to shoot them until they can not bleed anymore. And out constitution gives us the right to bare arms and protect ourselves, not attack people. Of course people will break the law, but should you take away everybody elses right too? And don't you dare sit there and tell me nobody abuses any privelages in Canada. No country can say 100% of their citizens abide by 100% of the laws.

Canadians don't have the "right" to bare arms.. we have strict gun laws, if we get caught with a firearm in a public forum/place, we go to jail.. I think I just proved my point about why I think the right to bare arms shouldn't exist.. "I am more than happy to shoot to them until they cannot bleed anymore" you don't need a gun to protect yourself, these are the people that should carry guns and THAT'S IT:

Police Officers

Military Police Officers

Military (Infantry, Pilots etc)

Armoured Transport

Sheriffs Departments

And that's it even some LEO's are questionable...

It makes me laugh to read your logic and reasoning. You are a typical Non-American who generalizes that ALL Americans have the intent to go fucking shoot somebody until they run out of bullets. If you would so kindly go compare the rate of crime in Vermont, to the rate of crime in all of Canada, I guarantee you it is lower. Because Vermont has the loosest gun laws in the country.

This is straight from a news article about crime rates:

"In 2011 there were 15,311 crimes reported in Vermont, including eight murders."

In a WHOLE year, there were only eight murders.

This is because there is an understood sense of "I can kill you very easily" in Vermont, and I don't know about you, but if I know somebody is thinking that, I am sure as hell not going to attack/mug them.

BYV0ggL.jpg          9ZQdA0i.jpg

Of all of those crimes, only 5.4% were violent. And that is thanks to their right to bear arms.

Well obviously it's un-American.. I AM Canadian after all, any who I never said anything about "generalizing ALL Americans have the intent to go fucking shoot somebody until they run out of bullets" I don't care about Vermont, i'm talking everywhere in general, no guns, no crime, no shootings.. 8 murders is still too many, those people more than likely had families, cousins, sons, daughter, mothers, fathers.. Sorry but I can't imagine living somewhere where people can walk down the street with an AR-15 Assault rifle.. what the hell do you need an assault rifle for? one day your right to bare arms will be gone, maybe not now, or 20 years from now, but it will, any who, I stated my opinion, and you stated yours, you don't get my reasoning & I sure as hell don't get yours.

There is this thing called the Black Market. People will always buy things even if they are illegal. Weed, is illegal, and a shit ton of people still buy it, same as cocaine. Just because something is illegal that does NOT mean people will not buy it.

Weed shouldn't even be illegal and probably half the population would agree.
