How good are these for IV

Featured Replies

So my laptop is constantly crashing and I am taking it in to futureshop (Canadian Best buy if you will) to get replaced since futureshop has a deal were if you have to take it in for a fourth time they replace your product. So I think the deal is it doesn't have to be exactly replacement value and since I bought this laptop with intentions for school work I didn't pay too much for it. The retail value is 550 bucks or something.

So I want to make sure that I get the laptop the can play GTA IV the best and I'll include links to the best 3 laptops I can find. The specs are down the page a little under the details and specs button.

I'd also pick the second one, but none of them are spectacular.

I know that. I bought the laptop I have now for schooling and remembered I had GTA IV on steam so I downloaded it and now that it is needing to be replaced I just want the best possible laptop I can have for the best gaming experience.

I don't know why people are telling you to get the second one. I would get the third one because it has the most dedicated memory at 1gb and the second only has 2080mb. I rather have more dedicated memory so you can make your game look nice. My opinion but I think its right. I would also look into some real gaming laptops like an Asus because those are meant to play games. Good luck!!

It depends on how much you want to spend on a laptop' It seems that you are looking for a low cost gaming Laptop.

Here are the following Laptops that I would Recommend buying for a low cost laptop!!!

- Scan 3XS Graphite LG5 - around AU$900/US$935

-Gigabyte U2442F - £800/AU$1,200/US$980

-Alienware M17x 2012 - £1,090/US$1,275 (about AU$1,665)

If the following prices are still high for you, just say by posting!! and the following prices are different as you are in Canada!! The following above is what I would use and recommend' if you did buy a $500 laptop it will not give you the performance that you are looking for as an $900 to $2.000 computer would.

tera = 1 000 000 000 000 = 1000 x giga = 1 000 000 x Mega

giga = 1 000 000 000 = 1000 x Mega

Mega = 1 000 000 = 1000 x kilo

kilo = 1000

I appreciate the posts on what laptop I should buy and what laptops are low cost gaming laptops, but I'm not purchasing anything as I am getting a replacement for my "lemon" laptop. The only thing I would be paying is the difference in the upgrade. My laptop is worth $550 and say I want a $625 laptop I would pay only $75 for the upgrade.

As for the amount of memory the graphics card has, I thought that the 2GB AMD Radeon HD 8750M was better than the 1GB AMD Radeon HD 8570M Dual. Then again dual 1GB card would equal up to 2GB so I guess it all depends on the card itself. I may sound stupid here but I'm thinking the 8750M is better than the 8570M cause 8750 is a higher number than 8570 but I could be wrong. I'm not sure which one is better for gaming (I've NEVER had any luck with picking out video cards)

i recommand a desktop, because a laptop gonna be overheat in a large game like GTAIV. max: 90 degrees. Your CPU is gonna be slower, because it is very heat, so not good FPS > Not good FPS = no gtaiv.

So, thats why im dispatch :)

Short story: Buy a desktop instead of a Laptop

I'd go with your second option. The problem with having dual graphics cards is that there are many games that can't take advantage of two cards, and therefore run on only one card. I believe that GTA IV can't use two cards. Go with the 8750M ;).

Not exactly. Microsoft Windows is weird like that; it reports 1024MB as 1GB (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigabyte - base 2 definition), so usually when companies say how much memory something has they use the base 2 definition.

With nvidia GeForce, the first digit is the series and the second is the card's performance category. For example, the GTX 670 is the 600 series and the card is in the 70 performance category. However, a 590 is better than a 670 because it is in the number 90 category of the 500 series. With AMD, the first number is the generation (or series), the second is the performance category and the third is the relative quality. So the 8750 is the 8000 series, 700 performance category, 50 quality. The 8570 is the 8000 series, 500 performance category, 70 quality. In this case the 8750 is better, I believe, since it is in a higher performance category. Also, having dual cards does not double the memory, you will still have 1GB.
