Silent Siren Suggestion - Vehicles Pullover

Featured Replies

Sorry if this has already been thought of and suggested elsewhere. I am yet to see a post about it though.

Several people have asked whether it is possible to have vehicles pulling over when a Police vehicle just has lights on. I thought this sounded pretty cool and had a thought on how to achieve it.

My suggestion is having a silent clip of sound within the HORNS file which would trick the game into thinking the sirens were on but in reality there would be no sound. GTA vehicles would act if the Police vehicle had it's sirens on and pull over.

I would attempt to try this but I have no idea how to start it.

Let me know what you think.

I think its a good idea, I think there are 4 different sirens in the game. You could replace the last one because one ELS it sounds like a messed up duplacate.

Yes that's right. Someone could just replace one of the sirens with a silent clip of sound. I'd happily do it if someone has some instructions on how to edit the HORNS file.

Yeah, I'll try it. If it works I will tell you.

Seems a bit pointless to me since LCPDFR has a lighting mode option which forces the AI to pull over without the siren having to be turned on. Press the / button on the numpad to activate the lighting modes, I believe that only two of those three lighting modes work though (Pull over AI).

Sorry that this seems pointless however I've never been able to use such a feature.

It's been in their for quite a while...

I'm not entirely sure if a silent sound file will work since you need to match the frequencies, I suppose you could mute the siren file and keep the frequency. I've never tried it though.

My biggest gripe with this idea is that you would either have to go through 3 tones before getting to the silent tone or you'd have to move the tones down in order (Silent is the wail tone, wail is yelp, yelp is phaser, ect.) which I'm not sure will work, it might, but as I said before I've never attempted anything like this.

Sorry, why would you know need to match the fequency?

Appreciate your gripes with having to go through the tones. However I'm willing for a little bit of inconvenience to achieve this. I'm not saying this is a final product I'm just suggesting something which could be useful. If you don't like it, you don't have to use it mate.

I'm almost done!

That's great!! Well done. Let me know when's it's available and I'll give it a test.

You need to match the frequencies of the original siren created by Rockstar otherwise (most of the time) the tones just won't work, I know this because I make sirens GTA IV and I've had my fair share of problems. I've had to ditch a few sirens because the tones just wouldn't work properly no matter what I did.

No, I probably won't use it myself but I just thought I'd let you know just in-case you were unaware of that.

Can't you just use the / key to turn your lights on without the siren? If you activate your ELS with J and then hit / it will be as though your siren is on but no sound is playing. There's really no need to go to all the trouble of replacing sound files and whatnot.

That doesn't work for me. Also I've seen several people post about having a feature for vehicles to pullover without sirens.

I just tried this out for myself. It does work! Very clever idea, I will definitely be using it for my own videos.

Glad you like the idea. I'm using craftiegamer's sirens with a silent siren too. Work's great.

Are you pressing the right button? / on the numpad, above the numbers and next to *
