Need Help! "Securom launcher stopped working"

Featured Replies

I have no idea really what is causing this. I have done it a few times, which is to install GTAIV(clean, nothing else) and then I update to 1.0.7 and then it says "Securom launcher stopped working" everytime I try to launch it, it makes absolutely no sense.

When upgrading to 1.0.7, should I gradually update through all the patches or just go ahead and just update from base version to 1.0.7?

This has been really confusing because I have played with other mods on GTA4 as well.

I have also tried to "update" the Securom Launcher with their diagnostic tool but it still does not work..

I am at a loss and have no idea what to do. This is the 3rd time I have tried doing it and it doesnt work....

Thanks guys, hope I get some help on this.

You could try using SecuRom's NoDVD exe. (No it's not piracy, it requires you to have a legit DVD-Key)

Huh interesting. Ill look into it

EDIT: Just install the latest patch.

Did all that already. The Latest Patch(which is 1.0.7) is the one that seems to be causing the issue.

You didn't answer us if you have a cracked version or not.

Yes he did, he has a legit copy of GTA.

Try running the game as an administrator (right click-->run as admin). That really shouldn't be necessary if you are on a clean install though. You have no mods at all, right?

Right. I had a few on but when I uninstalled it I cleaned up the folders so no mods.

This is really perplexing. It really seems to be that 1.0.7 is causing this.

When I had the mods on, I had it patched to 1.0.4 and nothing was wrong.

Ill check out that NoDvD thing.

Just to say it again, the NoDVD launcher by Securom only works if you have an original key.

Yeah no worries. I do. Ill check it out after I do a full reinstall.

Would it be best to install and then update to 1.0.7 and then do the NoDVD?

Well that was interesting. I randomly clicked on GTAIV just to see what would happen and it launched....and then crashed and then I launched it again and played through till I got the phone. I quit and then installed LCPFR and then it comes up with that same error again...hmm.

Hello! I would suggest you ask your question at this link.

http://support.rockstargames.com/anonymous_requests/new

There you will fill out your question and E-Mail and Rockstar Games, INC will send you a long answer with possible issues and how you can troubleshoot and fix your problem. I know Grand Theft Auto IV might be a bad game, But Rockstar Games actually have very good support. It might take up too two days before you will get an reply but you will get one.

They helped me fix my texture problem :)

Please create a separate thread about your problem and read the announcement titled "Read this first" in the support forum. Which is where you should post if you have First Response installed.
