Failed suspect was killed?

Featured Replies

That would be a clever response if the suspect still held the person at gun point. But he doesn't. He always runs.

I just went off of your conflicting statements "pal". If that is now classed as assuming something, so be it. Dropping this before I get an infraction.

Not much of a problem anymore. On .95 he drops the firearm before he flees, doesn't make him any less dangerous but lessens the need for lethal force. I still slow those guys down with my push bumper though

I am trying to figure out what you're saying here 1adam3. First you say it's wrong to fail a callout, you shooting someone running from you is you defending someone or yourself from said suspect? Fair enough, you're entitled to that opinion, the preaching and telling people they are wrong, does not make you an expert in any way shape or form.

Also, why are you calling it unrealistic to fail due to lethal force, when you are driving a damn police vehicle into the suspect when there is zero reason to and that is far more dangerous to do so?

Ah well, the minds of some people, I will never understand it.

Back to playing for me.

Regards.

I think you need to slow down re-read and not try to assume, pal. I nudge the suspect with my car because he is still a felon and I can escalate my use of force to ensure that he is detained. State Courts have defended this as a legitimate use of force within an Officers spectrum... So, now that suspect is no longer fleeing with a firearm, I sometimes choose to use my push bars as force to detain the suspect. I don't run them over. Once they are stopped, I de-escalate the use of force and attempt to make an arrest. I also never said someone was wrong for not using lethal force when the suspect was armed, I just didn't like the fact that it was considered a failure when it was used.

Furthermore, while I don't consider myself an expert in any aspect, I did study Criminal Justice for four years at the University level. I don't claim to know everything, but my concentration was in Police practice and administration and I try to share my knowledge as best I can.

What's that old adage about assuming? I can't remember how it goes...

I hope I'm not playing the game incorrectly... but... I kill the suicidal people that surrender... That's good right? =D

There's no coorect or incorrect way to play the game. However, you costing the the taxpayers the price of a bullet if you use your gun. Next time, pikc his gun up and use it

Good idea... Mmm... Maybe I could run him over also. Or beat him to death.

Can you taser someone to death in game? Hmmm....

The difference between the use of lethal force in the USA and Europe has a good reason. In 2010, 30 officers were killed in the US due to gunfire.

Here in belgium we had one or two if I remember correctly. The gun laws are just totally different. If I lived in the US and I saw that in the first half of 2011 alone

there were already 40 officers killed in the line of duty, I wouldn't hesitate to use lethal force. I studied the US criminal justice system last year in criminology

and when I saw the fatalities in law enforcement I suddenly understood why there's much more use of lethal force.

So too reply to 1adam3, I understand your point of view completely but it's difficult for some countries to understand your doctrine of lethal force since

we are rarely confronted with so much gun related crimes and police fatalities.

Good point, but don't forget that the disparities between US Line of Duty Deaths and Belgiums may be based on population differences.

Absolutely right. But most of the deaths in law enforcement in the US are gun related, no?

"Dura lex, sed lex"

I do not know the actual statistics. However, I would guess firearm related deaths are the number one.

In NYC, you would be sued so hard for shooting a fleeing perp, even if he did have a gun in his hand, especially so if he dropped it. He would then be showed in the best light possible by the media and if he was dealing drugs then he would be considered an honest entrepreneur. Things are very different here compared to the South. We just gave bail to a guy that shot a cop the other day; tell me that isn't pitiful.

That's really messed up... Bail someone that shot a cop? WTF

EDIT: 400th post FTW

In my country, lethal force is only warranted when there is a danger to life. In America, I presume you can shoot escaping felons etc.

While I play LCPDFR, I follow military ROE. If they present any firearm threat, I will cap their ass.
