Arrests

Is it possible to make a way for you to arrest someone without having to point there gun at them. This would be on the topic of front line policing and interactive policing what Sam said was the new main priority of LCPDFR

* Select baton (or bat)

* Aim

* Press "E".

I've tried that it didn't work for me every time but I'll try again. Even if that does work it would be nice to have a way to do it without taking out a weapon at all.

I could see how this would be something to add in as for realist play since a lot of arrests in real life are done without guns drawn however for the majority; lets say unknown persons, guns are drawn by police in case a gun is drawn by the person being arrested.

Of course it goes without saying that a lot of arrest procedures depend on each POLICE Dep. or Law Enforcement Agency but mostly if we are looking at this as person of interest or priority, then an order command like that of which comes in some scripts which would allow you to order a person out of the car and to lay on the ground or if someone is being arrested for lets say *a fight* would you simply walk up to them and order them to stop and then blah blah.. it can get real realistic here but that takes work however not all POLICE are required to aim their hand guns at a person before putting them under arrest. Whether or not that can be developed is a matter of expertise.

First off; what's up with your punctuation, man? Your posts are damn hard to read.

Secondly, most arrests are in fact done without drawing any weapons. (Of course it's different with traffic stops, where a person could always pull a gun and turn around). It's actually called use of force continuum. An officer will never resort to pulling a gun unless his or any other person's life is immediately endangered by another person. While arresting, typically just shouting at the person and putting one hand on the holster for safety is enough.

As for the holster in LCPDFR, first off the devs needed something to recognize that the user is willing to make an arrest (otherwise - with no weapons equipped - you will get your standart detention menu when pressing E); and then again, this is Liberty City; what would the LCPD be without some excessive force? ;D

In real life, if there's enough risk to draw a gun, isn't there also enough risk to get two officers? At least in urban environments (like LC), I mean; I know that there are departments where you basically always work alone.

Also, wouldn't it be possible to just add "Arrest suspect" to the standard detention menu?

honestly, I think the way it's solutioned with the baton is good enough.

I think it is possible to do that, but I was always able to just search people and arrest them with out my gun out...
