400-500 dollar laptop or PC budget for lspdfr

Featured Replies

It's kind of hard to tell since apparently the listing doesn't show what i7 it is. It should be more than sufficient for GTA V, assuming it's a modern generation. The GT 1030 is capable of running GTA V but may struggle at higher settings or resolutions. It’s better suited for low-to-medium settings at 1080p.

If you use high settings, it might dip below 30FPS depending on the scene complexity. I think LSPDFR will struggle a bit.

It'll play GTA V, which is a very old game, but it's not future proofed at all. It'll struggle with more modern ones.

I agree with MathVC that LSPDFR might struggle, Intel's i3/i5/i7 is not very clear, but an old i7 can be worse than a modern i3. The Intel Quad Core i7-3770 isn't terrible, but it's certainly an aged chip at this point. The GT 1030 2GB is fairly terrible now.

Personally I always advise against buying pre-build PCs from Amazon(look at the reviews), also that laptop you're looking at isn't a gaming laptop.

I don't want to disappoint you nor do I want to kill the caterpillar before it becomes a butterfly, but I feel it's more "ethical" to give you some honest advice.

I've been in your shoes before. A $400 Dell laptop was all I had, and I played GTA IV LCPDFR on it through high school at 5-10 FPS. The summer before college, I got a summer job, saved some money and I was able to build a PC that can run modern games at 60 FPS.

So a $600 budget PC in 2025 may be able to run some games but you may not get the best gaming performance with GTA V, I'm talking about below 30 FPS on medium settings. Let alone running LSPDFR with GTAV alongside other mods. Even a mid-power GPU plus CPU would easily exceed your budget.

If this isn't what you're expecting, I'd save that $600, and build a decent gaming PC later.

Did you ever buy anything? I would look at ebay and such and stores for open box deals on parts. Plenty of vids how to put one together and load operating systems.
