Hi,

 

I was notified today (thanks @unitedOrange66) about PHEREM SICARIO on Patreon selling at least one of my plugins (Rich's Police Enhancements) under the name Officer Tactics.  This stolen plugin is showcased in this YouTube video by BlueLine Vibes.

 

While I no longer maintain my plugins, they are still available for free here on LSPDFR, and the source code is available on Github.  People have DM'd me to ask permission to work off of my code in order to update the plugin for themselves, which I have no problem with.

 

I've submitted a DMCA claim to Patreon and left a comment on BLV's video.  Just wanted to warn the community here as well to help mitigate the risk of unsuspecting people getting scammed.

 

Additional proof that these files are directly stolen from me can be found by decompiling his files and finding my name in some of the file paths (along with my code/class names that haven't been changed).

 

Update:  Patreon has processed my DMCA claim and the content has been removed (for now).  Thanks for the support everyone!

Adding proof

He has used stuff from my mods in the past (improved pursuit ai, improved ai accuracy) and reuploaded them in his mods, borderline copy paste. But at the time it was a free release, and it was just meta files so I just messaged him to at least give me credit since I didn't care that much. Sucks to see that he's doing that sorta thing again but worse, especially with something like plugins, which takes 100x more work.

Not gonna lie, there's a part of me that wants to update my plugins to help encourage people to stay away from this sort of thing.  I'll see how I feel as the weekend approaches, but no promises!

completely  understood, but I will say this. You have my complete support in that. I'd prolly wait for after the GTA update though. I think thats the 10th 

It's always depressing to see how much money the thieves are making, yet the people who actually put effort into making stuff get nothing.

Opensource still has a license. You think it's okay for people to sell someone else's work for a profit?

if it has a license then evryone in this commutiy should be in trouble plus ask the guys at nve and quantv if its ok to copy other ppl stuff and sell it

Would you mind clarifying what you mean by this?  Are you saying this is my fault and the resale of my property without permission is justified because I stopped updating my plugins?

 

I'm not sure if you're trying to victim blame, justify this person's actions, or just don't have an understanding of how copyright works.

He just updated the files saying that he "added something original" to the plugin. Something to do with spike strips lol. Absolutely no shame. Will no longer support this guy. 

As a part time software engineer myself, this is hilariously bad work on the part of the scammer. For one, he didn't even obfuscate his program (even if it was or wasn't stolen, horrible idea if you're selling a C#/.NET product and two, he didn't even bother trying to hide it. This is hilariously bad work on part of the scammer and his development skills. I know I should not laugh, but if you're gonna steal from talented developers, you deserve it in my books.

Really enjoy your plugins sorry this happened to you. it's a shame people like this exist and cannot respect that Open Sourced Licenses are there in place for a reason, where you cannot just go and sell things that aren't yours, I really hope you return sometime and recreate some amazing plugins, for now. they shall rest in the LSPDFR Community ❤️.

Hello everyone,

 

I wanted to formally address that refunds have been issued after making a legal threat against Pherem, also known as "Pherem Sicario." These refunds pertain to the plugin that was found to be in violation of @Rich's licenses and plugins. Please check your email if you purchased the plugin to ensure you have received your refund.

I became aware of this situation after reviewing BLV's Discord server and reflecting on the fact that it's unacceptable for developers' work to be exploited for profit. As a developer, I strongly believe that stolen content or works should not be tolerated.

 

If you're involved in this kind of activity, please be aware that it is illegal and unethical. This serves as a warning—do not engage in these practices.

Oh this is great to see.  Thanks for the update @TaylorSwift.!  I'll also mention that Patreon processed my DMCA claim and that content has been removed.  Hopefully his other content isn't stolen.  I'll be keeping an eye on his account for any changes that might seem suspicious.
