Without putting up another big post, the original thread starters system is "okay". Not really good, not really bad. I wouldn't waste my money on a dual core processor in this day and age. It's already outdated as it is, but it will work when you buy it.

You should so get a i7, you'd be good to go, not to mention multitasking wouldn't be a problem.

So yeah i7 all the way!

Not a bad video card dude. My video card is many times worser (nvidia gt220)

So this is good to go right out the box, i don't need to upgrade anything. This one is not a custom build its pre-build and my mum pointed it out to me :D

I don't think you need an i7 to multitask and I wouldn't get the i7-2600K unless you want to overclock, since the 2600K is an unlocked processor.

If you have time, wait for AMD's Bulldozer, which is going to come out in 2-3 Months, you'll get tons of power for reasonable money.

As far as the graphics card is concerned, I don't like ATI, like I said multiple times already. But that can just be thing of taste.

I could just get my custom build at christmas or get this one in a few weeks, i think i would be better of waiting till christmas, what do you guys think ?

[betasupport]

wait till christmas and see if AMD's bulldozer comes out. That processor might be very interesting.

Indeed. Despite being an Intel fan, AMD kicked out a great new series with the Bulldozer line. If what I heard is true, a good bulldozer APU will be all a low end computer would need. And they're CHEAP.

Hi Jordan

PC hardware is very cheap at present. I think Intel are indeed faster because of their R&D (lots of cash) but AMD are cheaper. If it was me I would go i7. Now what you have to watch out for is HDD what speed and make. Companies will often sell generic disks. The better ones: Samsung, Seagate, Western Digital are all great and have aftermarket warranty. Also you want 7200 rpm at the least. Ram as well, the lower the timings the better ie 9-9-9-24 (CL9) is the norm, anything lower is great. Again Crucial, Corsair OCZ all gamer companies.

Win 7 is great and its around 68 quid. In my personal opinion I feel you can build a bespoke system for cheaper, as you know exactly what you are getting. I have just done a dummy run with the older i7 and found i could build a system for 650 quid. You can get a decent monitor for around 100 quid. Again cases differ but you can get a decent one for 20-50 quid. If you can build a pc then buy it bespoke.

Edit: Have just done a dry run with i7 2600k and it comes to £680 without mouse keyboard monitor. (Ebuyer uk) No bundles if you did a bundle deal it might help.

Hope this helps

Hi again

I think this is expensive, yes you get the software bundled (office 2010) but if you are a student you can get this from software for students at a very cheap price. Win 7 should be bundled anyway. Kapersky is great (I use it). I wouldnt pay that much for the phenom, i have that chip and its great but you should be looking at 650 for a phenom system. The card is good but I find i have to upgrade sooner so i think its better to drop down to gigabytes card 1gb 560.

If it was me id go i7 and I would quite happily search around for a system for you. I also build them as my Father owns an IT company so you know I want to get the best deal and know what the crack is. I cant speak for the AMD bulldozer as I havent seen any specs so at present its i7 or i5.

Lastly 800w is overkill you might need that if you had two gfx cards and 3 HDDs but 650 should be fine.

Kind Regards

Goose
